I have a bunch of E9s and 850Cis do they count?
Niiiiice !
But would prefer 2002 experiences. :D
Xavier
Xavier you could have asked me last weekend - what do you want to know?
Or more important which group / period do you want to drive?
I have my 3rd one right now and a lot of friends race theirs.
The one on top belongs to a close friend who drives in youngtimer trophy this year.
My engine builder also is racing his 2002 for many years and builds lots of M10s.
The bottom one is my (past) convertible.
The middle one is "der Ratz" an extremely good base (although it looks fuchsed up in the pics)
It is in work right now and will get a period homemade tuning look with all the rare and überrare Parts but it won't be restored, just "repaired" and kept looking old in the visible areas.
I have period Campagnolo Electrons (tha same as on the Bizzarini 1900) or ATS 4 Spoke (can't decide yet)
Sachs negative camber Struts or Alpina Bilstein negative Cambers (can't decide too)
911 S Calipers front, Alpina adjustable swaybars, Alpina progressive Springs (Hens teeth) , Alpina Gossen Tach, Alpina Rollbar,
More wheels than a car can take (several Alpinas , Hubert Hahne), more seats than a car can take,
100 Liter Alu tank (ex alpina car - but not built by alpina), Bilstein rosejointed upsidedown dampers for the rear, a toe/camber adjustable rear axle (not period correct), reinforced Front axle, Schnitzer 240 km/h speedo (also Hens teeth), H1 lights (like amplilux), a nice engine with ca. 180 hp and a nice period airbox, Clutch with Aluminium pressure plate (like the ones used on porsche but extremely rare), ti/sa gearbox (as it is a 67 car i just had to get one), longneck LSD, and loads of other cool period stuff.
Parts are cheap (compared to porsche stuff) but period racing stuff is much harder to find.
If you want a fast roadgoing car that's not too difficult to build, if you want to drive FIA approved it gets harder.
I have the homologation papers here and give you hints whom to ask and where to buy.
If I would want to race I'd go for a 1800ti 4 door -way cooler in appearance. There was an interesting car with period race history for sale last year - perhaps not competitive to a car with an Uli Gerent engine but also not too expensive.

Uli, just visted a 2002 normale 1969 with a HTP group2.
Pretty nice but, bit of rust on door, overall solid. Engine is matching and full history.
Was not much enthusiastic about the engine about 130hp. A 635 gearbox ( not FIA!).
18000€. I think it is a bit expensive.
Xavier, if you run Anhang K periode 71 you'll probabaly get rid of those doors anyway.
Most people I know drive periode 71 that means pigcheek car, slicks on 8", with GRP engine lid, trunk lid, doors, doors with plastic glasses, current cage
non-adjustable uprights, non adjustable rear axle, engine with 180 hp is about 10-12k incl. carbs and ignition with drysump add+ 2.5k, if want to go faster add 2-5 k for every 10 hp.
Currently about 260 hp is possible with a 2 valve but fragile and really expensive.
With a 4 Valve M12 you're around 315 hp @65k for the engine (but that's another period causing lots of other costs), Schnitzer is currently doing repops of their 4 valve parts, and somebody in austria already has his schnitzer replica stuff running.
To build a FIA approved 2002ti (clone) racer that is competitive I think you'll have to spend ca. 35-40k + Work. Still you'll just get an engine for that money in a porsche world.
Brakes 1200
Seat (Hans) 1000+500
Cage 1000
Engine 10000
Gearbox 2000-5000 (depending on ratios )
Rear Axle 600-800
LSD 600
Front uprights 1500 (neg. Camber)
Front axle 500-1500 (depending what you do for short ratio steeering add +2k)
Swaybars incl linkage rosejoints (german quality) 800
Dampers 600-800
Wheels 1000
Tires 1000
Base Car (only very little Rust) 6000-8000
GRP doors with windows 2500
Grp hood and lid 700
Fender Kit 800
Rest 5000
Well, you probably want to have the ti package, 2002 normale is rather "912" in porsche terms
(Axles, brakes, Power)
Doors are available from BMW and require a bit modification to fit satisfactory.
Cheers
Uli
Thanks. Appreciate.
I have always enjoyed the 2002. I had this 74 Malaga TII for a while and I am considering restoring a 72 roundie TII in the very near future. I agree with the sentiments out there that these cars will be even more special as the years go by.
Still have my first car, 1971 2002, with dual DCOEs and 300,000 miles on it. At one time all of my brothers and I had a car each (5). We still have a 1602 racecar that we run a couple of times a year.
That's mine, really nice to drive! Now it's running again on his period Campagnolo Ragno 7x13 alloys, much better than Minilites imho.
Lorenzo, nice Turbo - very good investment if you bought some time ago.
Which Campas do you have?
The ones with many holes, or the ones with 6 holes?
I sold my set 7x13 perhaps two months ago to serbia.
Cheers
Uli
This is the 2002 (Normale) I am after :
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...d=339525&stc=1
Ciao Uli!
here are the Campagnolo wheels, I love that design and 7x13 fits the wheelarch of the Turbo perfectly. Same wheels fitted the Bizzarrini GT Europa 1900.
You sold to Serbia? So the east europe classic car market is moving on?
Ciao Lorenzo, yes these are the same wheels I sold. I think the bizzarini had 5.5x13 with the same design - I have two sets of those for my 1600-2.
Like here on the Schnitzer Car in 5.5x13.
Attachment 339573
these are my ex 7x13
Attachment 339574
And if I manage to fit these 4 Spoke 6x13 I'll perhaps use them - also have 2 Sets of these.
Attachment 339575
Looks better than expected. Not sure whether any given fia marshall would approve these flares - here in germany probably not.
I'd check for following stuff.
If the car is straight, has large vented Brakes front with the corresponding rear, closed trailing arms rear, a LSD, a current cage, negative camber uprights in the front, the seats and harnesses are not outdated as well as the extinguisher, and the Suspension is good you'd just have to upgrade the engine and you have a nice driver if the flares don't hurt your eye.
Cheers Uli
Here is my turbo, unfortunately in a shop for the past 5 years because of turbo woes. I need a KKK turbo or rebuild kit if anyone has one. I have tried so many solutions but still in the shop. Lucky I have the 911s.
On the wheels front, I now have Italian versions of 15" Alpinas.
there is a great article in an old C&D on the 2002 - "Hymnals" - can't recall if it was by DE Davis or Brock yates, but it is one of the best auto journalism pieces I've seen since Jenks died
I loved mine, but it is long gone - I have yet to own a Porsche that I'd trade in for another '2 - OTOH, if I had not issued orders to my female companion to shoot me on sight if I bought yet another old car, I'd add a '2 to the stable
Well the turbo is really great. I would never get rid of it so stop asking me. It's like a math problem when you drive it, can you time it right, while the turbo is doing it's amazing, slow, spool up whine, to hit the corner so it comes on boost at exit. The beauty of it is, unlike the 930, it wasn't known as a dentist killer if you get it wrong because the 2002's handling is much more docile.
JUST SAW THIS THREAD..
love love love the lil boxes...had a 73 in 76...
the italian wheels are very sexy..always liked them.
I know a few racers..but here on the east coast you just dont see many being raced..unlike the PNW and Cali.
here is my 72 pig cheek period correct racer to be:
13 x 8 Comp ML
Dunlop M series race rubber
Scheel ( NML) drivers bucket
4 wheel discs
much more
this car gets me in trouble...often..lol

colorado e9?...never saw that before.:D
Miss my '71, really fun car. My 3rd '02. Crazy the value difference, seems they rust worse than 911's. Thought I was doing good to get $10K out of it a few years ago. Literally no rust, fresh M10 (easy to rebuild, but non-matching), fresh suspension/brakes, big sways, factory sport 350mm Petri wheel, 15x6 Panasports, but I kept the Scheels.

I had my first 2002 in 1969 and have owned them ever since.
Here is my U.S. Spec '71 with period build. The wheels are four spoke Campy 9x13 all around.
Bilstein/alpina Red dot struts and shocks, Alpina progressive rate springs, four wheel vented discs, boxed trailing arms, adj sways front and rear, 235/5 close ratio five speed, 3.9 limited slip, quick steering box, schnitzer flares, four headlamp grilles with marchal high beams, carello low beams with cibie oscar lamps, trans am style instrumentation with Jones mechanical tach and five Stewart Warner guages, Alpina momo, recaro and scheel seating, 45s on factory Ti manifolds, forged 10:1 Pistons, 300 alpina sport cam, Alpina ported head, baffled pan with windage tray, etc

This one appears to be a very nice example that unfortuneatly sold before I became aware it was available for purchase.
I always wanted a 2002 tii. Any super clean ones out there? :)
Wow ! really nice 02 out there !!! Cool colors too. I did not buy the one on the previous pages, engine in bad shape and few fuzzy things.
Will continue to watch out.
2002AD has two for sale presently, here:

Hi Xavier,
this is my 1970 2002 with pigchecks, 8" minilite wheels...
Attachment 341068Attachment 341069
That car reminds me of a visit I made to the Alpina factory outside Munich in 1972. My father ordered a fully prepped 2002 Alpina with twin Webers that looked just like your car. The large fogs were on the bumper and the smaller ones raised up on mounting bars so you could just see them as half moons from the driving position. I remember a 5 speed, LSD, HUGE Alpina rims and CN36 tires and an unfortunate Sepia Brown color.
I really bonded with that car and drove it far more than my father. We were based in London but drove all over Europe; the car looked so sad on snow tires with those flared arches but man, in summer it filled them out and stuck to the ground, even in the English rain. Sadly, no pictures due to an evil stepmother but given a choice between a 1972 911 T and that car I would opt for the Alpina for sure, so forgiving. With the flares, lights and sounds of the Webers, that car was all business, hard to look at a narrow body 2002 tii and get the same feeling.
as most of us here know , the 911 had a very rich motorsport history...
well, the lil box did as well, it was just very short. Here is an iconic shot:

Wow! Very cool thread. I too really dig 02's. Had a '71 Roundie and a very nice ''72 Tii that I should've kept,
Looking to get another Roundie real soon;)
Attachment 357390wish I had more pics of the Tii.
I have had many. But for now, this is as close as I can get. The body style following the 2002. I ordered it from the factory In 1981 though Auto Becker in Düsseldorf . Just took it out of storage last Sunday .
323i with all options available at the time.
Those were the bomb back in the day. There was a performance BMW shop in Berkley California call Hardy&Beck. They are real 3 piece wheels. Those are 7X15 on all four corners. Super expensive back then. I think about $200 per wheel. I don't know who made them for H&B.
This is one of the more fun 2002 cars I had. Poor picture buy all I can find right now. Top of the truck all the way to the rear. Factory 2002 turbo. This was one of many truck loads of cars I bought in the early 80's headed to Bremerhaven, then off to Newark. Oh, those were the days.
Just purchased an original paint 76 2002 from SO CAL. Now in Seattle, WA. I have been having fun polishing and cleaning. Has not been run in many years but is completely stock.
Nice score!!
This is an interesting car-http://www.autokennel.com/AutoKennel/1972_BMW_3002_tii-l.html

Polaris, Nice 02
Hi Polaris: you wear 185/70/13 tires - are you odometer readings very much off?
(I take part in many regularity events and precise readings are important to me. I am thus sticking to 165/80/13 which are not my favorites.)
Pawel
Hi Pawel,
i'm not Polaris but the difference in circumfence is 0,8% so that's near to nothing.
And for regularity you'll calibrate your tripmaster or similar.
By the way I have a brantz retrotrip with a matching fixture for BMW 02 (early short middle console) if anyone's interested.
Cheers
Uli
anybody post a hatchback yet? Film director Francois Truffaut had a hatchback...
My son has turned 16 and wanted something vintage as his first car. We found this incredibly solid but neglected and "personalized" 1600-2. We will be returning it to its original Bristol (a Gray with bluish tint) with black hood, trunk and door tops. New carpets and a pair of Scheel 300 replicas from GTS will find their way into the car as well.
It has a 2002 engine with a custom built Jetronic FI system that works amazingly well along with a 5-Speed box. Somebody thought it a good idea to add a sunroof which works great, but is not exactly period.
My son is getting to work cleaning the car after it arrived from the Seattle area. It was not driven much in the last several years. We have wiring issues to deal with and some minor rust in the driver's footwell. Otherwise it's a solid west coast car.
wait a second before going to bodywork - I'll have to compare pics. These might be the "kleine Alpina verbreiterung" (small alpina Flare)
OK, but they were added about 15 years ago. Not done very well either. Lots of Bondo filler now cracking.
those r unusual flares........but I don't think the small alpina..yet not turbo flares either...hmmmm
peter , I'm local......and know these cars well.....and some great shops...feel free to pm me.....
that car would work keeping the black..just add it along the sides..a la the alpina blk w/ Colorado schemes....
PS I also have a lead and sweet deal on a 4 pt custom roll bar....street style set up..period. It was going to be mine.
looked it up they're not these are the small alpina flares

it sure seems big Jerry likes the 02's for sure...Tii's at least..lol
Automotive journalist Gert Hack authored the BMW 02 tuning bible So Wird er Schneller wherein all the Alpina, Schnitzer and other tuner alfermarket performance parts and modifications are detailed and illustrated.
I bought a copy years ago out of an ad in Auto Motor und Sport but expect they turn up from time to time on the online auction sites.
Cool, I would like to get ahold of a copy. I assume they are all in German?

This is a 1968 BMW 1600 Baur Voll Cabriolet #67 produced. I had it for several years but needed the funds to acquire a sweet 1992 RS (964). Very practical and easy to work on.
Yeah, I had my body guy mold the air dam in. He did a great job and it looks so much cleaner than before.
I did a body off resto in the late 80's all because of a mouse. The little bastard packed both frame rails with kibble that held water like a sponge and caused them to almost rust in two. He kind of did me a favor in hind sight though, I probably would not have restored the car to this level without his shenanigans. The little guy cost me about $40K and I never even caught him.
Alpina and the other prominent 02 tuning shops such as GS Tuning and Koepchen sometimes fitted mechanical tachos to their purpose built race cars. This hot rod 02 uses a period correct but made in the USA Trans Am solution that drives off the snout of the 300 Alpina sport cam.
Alpina used Smiths chronometric mechanical tachos and listed the piece in their Accessories folder. The Smiths instrument used a bell crank drive, similar to the one pictured in the second image below, which was fitted to a reworked timing gear cover and camshaft. Alpina sold the Smiths unit for DM 387 back in 1973.
The tacho on this hot rod however was made by Jones Instruments and is the chronometric tachometer most favored for its accuracy by the Trans Am teams of the late 60s and early 70s.
Here is the "ALPINA electrical tachometer with adjustable maximum revolution indicator. For installation into the instrument panel of the BMW 1602/1802/2002/Touring" and sold for DM 168.
This one was pulled many years ago from a rusty Euro 1602 that was parted out. The red indicator needle had gone astray.
way cool! Thanks for the post
Hallo Rick
You are welcome; glad you enjoyed seeing those old 2002 things.
Here is some old literature from the early days of the 02 as published by Burkard Bovensiepe KG in Buchloe, West Germany at the old ALPINA typewriter factory owned by his father.

Here's my 72 Tii. It's been in our family since 74. Other than a repaint in the early 90's it's largely all original. It also has the rare 02 specific dog leg close ratio 5 speed.
So many adventures in the past 42 years!
WOW, a real looker!
Very nice Scott! And cool that it's been in your family for so long. We should plan an East/MW RG BMW owners get together sometime.
Thanks Jim! That would be very cool! Randy has the matching Tii to mine. Long story, but Randy's Tii was once owned by one of my dad's buddies in BMWCCA in the 70's/early 80's. So many fun adventures with both families and cars. When he sold it around 1984, it had 12K miles and had never seen rain. Lost track of the car through the years, but one early AM I saw that very car on BaT. Knowing Randy wanted a Tii I called him and said if you really want one, this is the car to have. He bought it sight unseen and we had one heck of a road trip to go pick it up on the East Coast. So after 30 years the cars were reunited. How cool is that?
Those Campy's are stunning!!!
Thanks! Purchased and picked up directly from Al Cosentino of FAZA fame. Now there's another good story! Do you guys remember Al?
Quote:
Do you guys remember Al?
Knew him pretty well back in my late '60's early '70's in my Alfa days Scott..... Lots of stories
http://www.fazaabarth.info/exhaust.htm
Back in those days he was the Abarth guy and still making sense...
The last time saw him was at Pomona, about 6 years before the end... Not a good time
However he did have a very big and beautiful black lab with him that he spoke only Japanese to... and I swear the dog understood every word.......... Al was one'of'a'kind
... and so it goes
Oh yeah. That's a name I haven't heard in years. I used to see him at Lime Rock in the late 60s and early 70s and bought an Abarth exhaust for a pos TR6 I had back then.
Reading through Al's link that Chuck posted reminds me of the label on the Dr Bronner's soap bottle. :D
Thank you Jim... I've been say'n that for over 35 years...... ;)Quote:

Merry Christmas to fellow '02 owners:
http:///www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO9jJu9zUcQ
That's a nasty looking 02
While some of us made the pilgrimage up to FAZA in Brewster, NY to visit Al Consentino and buy Canpagnolo Elektron rims for our 02 cars others went to NJ to visit Hank Thorp Racing to pick up a set of magnesium minilites that took months on back order. Here is an old 8x13 minilite with period race rubber suitably emblazoned with the shocking yellow Dunlop billboard stencil.
These look ready for the 1970 Gr 2 race at Silverstone.
That must be a pretty fat tire to fill up a 8" rim. Even a modified 4 banger would grunt to get maximum performance pushing that much rubber.
Hey Rick
I hear you but Schnitzer, GS Tuning, Koepchen, ALPINA et al typically ran with 8s up front with 4.75/10.00x13 rubber as in the photo (yes that is the little size for the front)while out back 4.75/11.50x13 was standard on a nine or ten. These sizes are as shown in Gert Hack's book as well. But those teams had up to 190 DIN in 1970 and a good deal more by 1975 with 16v twin cam heads from Schnitzer and the BMW Mototsport parts bin when the Heidegger O2 won its class at LeMans with 9x13 rims from Ronal front and back.
Surely theses tires and the fenders to cover them limited top end - but provided lots of grip for the F2 pilots moonlighting in the premier Gr2 events to engage in the three abreast cornering antics that were common in the popular Europa tourenwagen meisterschaft events of that era.
For the SCCA B sedan in 1970 the max was 7x13. But for Sebring and other FIA events in the US guys like Russ Norburn ran wide body cars with 8s and 10s (in Russ' case minilite).
Anyway the old 02 stuff was why I read auto motor und sport back then: to pore over the classifieds hoping to learn about all the trick parts the tuners had for the O2.
The Campagnolo 9x13 four spoke wheels pictured in the attached image are fitted front and rear on this 1970 '02 that has BMW Motorsport homologated bodywork just like the Heidegger 1975 LeMans winning 2002. I purchased these wheels from FAZA and they remain in the original gold paint finish as delivered new from Campy.
I didn't know they were pushing that type of HP in those classes. Was Russ Norburn half of Miller and Norburn from N.C. ?
Yes Russ Norburn was from Miller and Norburn, one of the ALPINA distributors for the USA. He also drove a 911 once or twice in the early trans am.
For an SCCA B Sedan motor with 45s and standard combustion chambers I think about 165/170 was strong. But the European rules allowed much greater scope for making power with fully machined hemi head combustion chambers, slide throttle mechanical injection, dry sumps and ultimately lots of the same tricks developed for the CSL program like twin cam 4V heads. In 1968 the European cars were pretty much like a B Sedan car but they evolved dramatically over the years just like the evolution of the original Alfa GTA concept to its ultimate GTAM spec. I think Chuck may be familiar with how radically those cars changed.
Fun little cars!
I was today at the exhibition for the 100 years of BMW in Brussels ... lots of 2002 ... Tii, Turbo, a Ti with one owner from new ... here some pics, more on our website.
Enjoy!

As FIA have been kind enough to make most old homologation forms public here http://historicdb.fia.com you can find most '02 goodies described in a lot of detail. Including 4-valve heads and guillotine intakes....
http://historicdb.fia.com/sites/defa...58_group_1.pdf
I suppose today it's all about serviceability and endurance in historic racing but most are pushing over 200hp reliably from a 2-valve carbed M10. I've seen these guys run a few cars like that, and they do it very well! http://www.engels-rennsport.de/projekte.html Last time I was there they had just started another new build for stock. Hi Rick they do this with either 50 Webers or Kugelfischer MFI but the large pumps are scarce
Car and driver 1968 on the 2002 really funny to read.
http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...davis-2002.pdf
Yes, that DED review is truly an epic piece. Nobody writes like that anymore. Right up there with the work of Yr. fthfl svrt, Henry Manney III.
I was surprised to hear him say he liked to hunt and defeat the "Porsche's". He must have been talking about 356's and 912's. Don't think a 02 could outrun a 911, if drivers were equal.
Sent this old circa 1970 magnesium center BBS wheel for fitment on BMW 2002 back home to BBS for service.
The service department polished the barrels, painted the dish and provided new hardware.
Did you have to send this to Germany? Or do they have a U.S. Facility here? I have a set of Hardy &Beck 3 piece wheels that could stand that treatment.
Rick
That early one went to the US branch of BBS in Braselton, GA.
They used to service all models of the BBS race wheels.
Is there any indication that the H&B barrels were made by BBS? I always assumed that they were but have never seen an H&B up close.
For example here is a pic of the rim of a slightly later (mid 70s) BBS magnesium center model E30 built to 7x13. As an aside, this one came from the West Coast distributor for ALPINA: Dietel Enterprises.
You can see the BBS markings stamped into the aluminum on lip of the rim. Are yours similarly marked?

You have a great collection of period 02 parts! Thought you would be interested to see this 02 gauge cluster. It has the 240 km/h speedo similar to yours, combined with an ALPINA rev counter.
Hi I think the speedo is from an e9 coupé (Indicator control light).
I know some would kill to get that tach.
My gauge cluster is also a bit different from Stock

Nice, but not perfect, '72 tii just sold for $50k on BaT:

That's strong money.
Scott
For sure. The seller even used the R word. (Rust) in the discription.
Here's mine...73 Tii minus the Tii...for the moment. It has a carb but I have all of the original MFI equipment for it. Need to get the pump rebuilt and injectors tested. Hopefully the injectors are still good because new ones are $600 apiece!

Beautiful car you have there Mohrgan.
For some reason I got the early car bug after reading the story of Mr. Magoo goes to Monterey by Auto Kennel.
Here are the lines to the early car hymn: Low back seats, long neck diffs, no brake servos, clear glass, dainty bumpers and simplified trim.
The many unique features and attendant problems with NLA parts made the early 1600 cars off limits to most. This is a similar kind of old car limbo that the now beloved early long hoods languished in for decades. These early 1600 cars also have that unembellished purity of Bauhaus design and reveal the brilliance of original concept.
And so any issues with this 151xxxx Caribe car will be placed squarely at the feet of the Auto Kennel exploits into early 02 stuff. Here it is in the shop after arriving from storage.
Nice Car, Alpina Wheels, Intarsienleiste, ti Grille, and pretty early. I might still have a set of stainless Trico Wipers - they were sold by Alpina, Koepchen, GS Back then.

Hello uai
Thanks!
According to BMW Archives the car was manufactured in mid December 1966. It has most of the early car features of the 150xxxx series cars. However it is an early second series car with a 151xxxx chassis number and has its original nose panel and front fenders. It also has several other bits of the very early ALPINA equipment in addition to the steel rims.
Your Trico stainless wiper blades would help complete the picture and I will pm you.
By the way that is a great looking steering wheel shown in the image attached to your post. Perhaps you could tell us all about it as it is unfamiliar (to me at least). Is that the signature of Hubert Hahne of Diana fame?
New addition, but one of the project 72 tii's will have to go. Currently being sorted out for some vintage touring
Nice Manila '67 there 50/50.
Like they say, running driving early cars are getting hard to find.
Something special.
Thanks Flunder. Agree on the early version being the most engaging with purity of design.Think SWB and Stepnose.
The plan is a period mild hot rod with a burnished original finish.
My first BMW was a '67 1600 in Caribe (blue) with a grey all vinyl interior, making it very close to Flunder's car. VIN was 1559938. I bought that car in 1974, back when virtually no one knew what a BMW was (slight exaggeration).
Looking for some info on toolkit for my Ti/SA project: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...BMW-1800-Ti-SA
I'm thinking it would be similar to an early 2002 kit and was wondering if anyone could help with information. From my experience, BMW people don't seem to be quite as rabid about tool kits as you-know-who.
Here are pictures of the roll (wet after cleaning) and the tools. I'm guessing it's missing a wrench. Thanks, Bill
Attachment 414785Attachment 414786
Agreed re the knowledge here vs almost anywhere else. One thought would be to check the e9coupe forum as well if you haven't already.

Here's the tool kit from my '72 2002tii

Sounds like a shared intention to avoid paint shop prison and keep largely original finish.
Actually more interested in a clean undercarriage than nice new paint.
Always liked the finned ALPINA diff cover introduced for the e21.
Shown here with the weld on brackets ALPINA supplied to enable proper retrofit to 02 chassis.
Will do a proper FS listing upon more deets, but my neighbor and good friend just informed me he is letting go his '75 Fjord Resto he's been working on for a few years. Recent paint, interior, headliner, wheels, seals etc. Very clean and also has with extra M20 Motor and Getrag 240 5spd. PM me for additional info. Thanks!

Alpina wheel for little money but it's got really bad wood. Alpina logo is nearly gone.
https://www.ebay.de/itm/323192746238
Not mine not affiliated
But you get a Hub ~ 150 and old BMW horn button ~40 and a stacked logo core for 230
Just keeping the thread going with pics of old 02 Bilstein race struts.
Features:
Larger diameter - same as CS/Bavaria
Negative camber 1 1/2 degrees
Larger spindle for tii bearings
Drilled for wider bolt spacing for big car caliper or 911S
Alpina race spec valving
Threaded housing for adjustable spring perch
sexy unicorn stuff
And these are the corresponding rears with rosejoints

Very rare Alpina tacho for 1600. I bid on it, but lost (went for 700 usd approximately).
no alpina branding on it?..
never saw that!
looks so american smith/sun like
but very cool
700 aint really that bad in the big picture of this hobby.
You should be glad because it must have been a scam.
This is mine and isn't / wasn't for sale. Could you point me to where you've seen it for sale?
And alpina is the button to hide the reset button of the normal position of the mile reset button. It's from an alpina typewriter (Burkard Bovensiepen's father ran Alpina Bureau Machines)
Alpina was using Gossen tachs in the early days (with Alpina branding) but apart from the typewriter logo nothing's genuine alpina on this.
I'll probably change the 200kph Speedo for a true (really rare) Schnitzer 240kph before it goes into the car.

uai,
I just read your post from half a year ago...
It does look like a scam indeed, because the picture is identical with yours! (Lucky me that I was overbid...)
If I remember correctly it was offered on the Italian mutation of eBay - I was searching for clear Italian turn signal lenses, and came accross that scam auction.
This just proves that evil lures at you from every corner of the internet...

I don't put in in For sale as I am not selling them and I don't know the price.
But a friend is thinking about parting with his set of early Alpina 3piece wheels - that early style is really rare.
His contact is holger@drews.li

I'm new to the world of early 911s however been a BMW 2002tii owner for 17 years!
Here's my '73 Turkis Tii purchased from the original California owner in 2002. For those in the 2002 world that was THE YEAR with many '02 Fests held across the country.
I attended Midwest '02 Fest that year and was on my way to Hershey when my alternator failed and I had to turn back just across the Illinois-Indiana border.
One of the photos below is from the Windy City BMW Vintage Fest and the other more recent with my Peridot Green Cayman R in the background.

I remember! in 2002 I had just washed my car and was gassing it up when a middle aged woman who was admiring my car noticed the 2002 badge and asked "it's so pretty! so that's the new BMW model?" I said "why, yes it is! You should go buy one!"
I've owned this "72 since '77

Went over to the BMW show at Woodley Park in the San Fernando Valley, here in SoCal last Sat.
This little pale green and white understated 2002 REALLY checked all the 'Street Outlaw' boxes for me... :)
And deservedly won an award at the end of the day... ;)
Keep your roundels spin'n .... :D
I have always loved these cars and just picked this one up last weekend.
There seems to be plenty of parts available - except for the "early"
3 front grilles (any leads appreciated).
Mark in Sunny Las Vegas
Hey Mark, nice find! That’s a great color. You need to find out first if you have the shallow or deep grills, it looks like you have the shallow, but I am not sure. Those are a little harder to find, but decent grills can be found from time to time in eBay. You can also check on the 2002faq forum. Nice find, congrats!
Purchased a really nice Riveria Blue 1974 in original paint last year. Love the car. Its fun to drive, almost as fun as my 74 GTV 2000.

I owned this one for about 10 years, it was great little race car.
That is my son at the wheel, he was 18 at the time.
He ran mid-pack but we had BIG FUN !! and we still talk about it today !!

This thread brings back real memories , fresh out of undergrad the triumphs I’d been driving seemed to be getting a little long in the tooth despite still lov8ng them and a buddy was hanging with us a Summit point raceway had a new 320 I I guess 1978 and it was like a star ship in comparison , he’ll Porsches as well .
I came upon a run down off white ‘69 02 and promptly changed the wheels , the seats , added headers and side draft solexes the had it painted artic blue and off we went it was a blast to drive as well .
Unfortunately that car met a very untimely end when on a bender found the tail fin of an old Chrysler imperial to hood to miss LOl .
Later on got a ‘74 silver put a 5 sod in had her painted and retrimmed and decided to sell it to a buddy who promptly blew it up
( what that red light ? That’s been on all day !)
Got many M5’s through the eighties maybe one M 6 have an e9 presently I’m putting an e34 M5 6 into with 5 sod should be pretty quick ..
Bert
Just wondering if anyone would care to make an offer on these, a vintage MoMo hub (No.152, one stud stuck in hub) and a mint almost NOS like Petri horn button. Hub came off a 69 2002. Admin, please delete if inappropriate!

Alternatively, willing to sell the hub only for $160 shipped. Thanks!
This thread got me thinking about a BMW steering wheel hub that I’ve had sitting in my garage for the last 30+ years. I can’t remember which car I pulled it off of back in the day. Can anyone on here tell me what car this would’ve come off of? Thanks.

That will fit the whole lot from the 60's to late 70's that had the ring contact.
So very early Neue Klasse. 02 through the whole build time.
e21 e3, e9 had the horn contact ring at the wheel/Hub - but the rest will fit if you add a contact ring
Thank you uai
Button sold. Hub still for sale at $160 shipped!
Cheers.
Well, shortly after this post I landed a '73 Verona and it's been a pleasure to own and drive for the past 8+ years...
However, I've come to a point to either keep my 914 or the 02 and despite it's versatility, I am letting go the 02.
The 964 is my forever car and I can't think of selling another Porsche.
