1973 Sepia 911E ("Brownie") - Finally awake after 25+ years in storage

Late last spring, I started the long process of "waking up" our Sepia 1973 911E. My wife has owned this car since it was purchased new in Reno, Nevada in 1973. Between then and 1982, the car spent its time in Utah, Colorado and Texas. When we moved to Michigan in '82, the car became a summer only driver until it was placed in climate controlled storage in 1989. The car has about 66,500 miles on it.

A few weeks ago, we actually made the initial start-up and took her (we call her "Brownie") for a drive. It was a thrill and very rewarding. After all of the work required to get her roadworthy again, that final moment starting her up for the first time was a great experience for us. As time permits over the next weeks (months?) I will be posting some photos of the work I did to get her back on the road. I have a lot of "before and after" photos to share, and still have a bit of work to do to get the car to the level she deserves.

A few photos: the first one is of Carol with the car around 1977 in Utah, the second is in 1988 (the last summer she was driven before going into storage) and the final few are from a few weeks ago when we first started her up again.

I have referred, many times, to postings on this forum to help me through the process required to get the car back on the road. What a great resource and the "search" function works great!

Beautiful car! I love the stories about original cars...especially when they are told by the original owners.

Wonderful car and I love the pictures, Bill! You're right "up the road" from me! I hope to see you at one of the meets in the future... maybe Gingerman?
