Congrats and great score. I share your feelings for the *lowly* -6 with rolled flares instead of GT-look. (Nothing against the GT-look, but the rolled flares are a little more subtle.) I flatter myself to think they are reminiscent of the 914-8. I have a similar story, but this thread belongs to you, so I won't co-opt.

Mike,
Let me attempt to paraphrase my early comments in the deleted initial post.
I am very pleased for you, it's a fabulous looker. Hope to see it one day. Your story of acquisition parallels mine and likely that of others who waited for the right car and created a relationship with an original owner.
I know you're a long time 914 guy but welcome to the rarified air of the 3333 club of 914/6s.
But wasn't that a lot of dough to shell out just to acquire the authentic toolkit?

image.jpgWelcome to the club! I've owned mine for more than 20 years. They truly are special cars. Tangerine and metallic green are two of my favorite colors on a 6. Mine has slightly rolled lips in the rear and a 3.2 ltr power plant with the original matching #'s motor tucked safely away in storage.

Beautiful "6"! Love the color and great story. What is your serial no.? I bought mine in '76 for $6,000, and it is still part of my family.

Just went on 914-6 Registry- looks like a butt load of these are still around. Is there a site that lists production numbers and colors?
Tangerine seems to have been the Flavor of the Day...
