Thread: 3 Bar Aluminum Lid

    3 Bar Aluminum Lid

I've collected a bunch of the "common" rear aluminum lids over the years and have only come across one like this. This particular lid was used by the research department during 68-69. Was attached with "R" hinges. Riveted construction not spot welded. Configured for the 3 bar grill not 5. I don't believe this type grill was ever available on any production 911S. Look at your factory built 68 or 69 rally/track car and see if you need this. It is a little rough but it is extremely rare. I will sell for $17,000 obo. If you have a half a million dollar+ car with the wrong lid it is more than fair. Orange lid for comparison only. I will accept the later 5 bar lid as partial trade. Buyer pays paypal fees and shipping.P1040386.jpgP1040388.jpgP1040385.jpgP1040387.jpg

Sorry but I can't tempt cloning, so info is limited. If it is correct for your car great. I'm not selling history just a very rare piece. I hope you understand. Going to the bunker for the next 24, Happy New Year!

I believe this photo shows period correct application of similar(?) lid. FYI, factory documentation I have seen supports claims of parts sharing by the research dept.

Great example! A million dollar car with what looks to me like a 5 bar lid.

Help me. What's the value (to you)? Has anyone seen another one like it, ever?
