Fuel vapor breather tank on 1972 911

    Hello,

I had my 1972 911 S repainted a year ago. Today I found the fuel vapor tank is wobbly under the dash and a rubber cord which may hold the breather tank.
Could you show us how the cord hold the breather tank? Some pictures are more welcome in understanding it.

The metal spread clamp at the very top of your picture has a twin on the other side of the tank.

Originally there was a large rubber band (now NLA) that you hooked (first) onto the back set of the spread clamp and ran it under tank to the front clips you see at the top of your picture.

People use small bungee cords and large O rings as replacements for the rubber band.

Parts Klassik sells the rubber band now, just look under their "New Products" link and you'll find them (actually just saw them today while poking around on their site). I haven't seen one other than on the net in a pictures but he always sells really nice stuff and is great to deal with.

No problem, Kurt (Parts Klassik) also sells all the clear hose that hooks to your breather box (901 201 062 22 "container for bleeding") in case your's is cracked or brittle. I bought a bunch from him a few months ago and replaced mine (along with a replacement breather box) to get rid of the fuel smell in my cabin.
