I didn't know this about the first 10 VIN cars being destroyed. Is there any more information about this?
    Thanks

I have a good friend that has a 79 930 #11, he has factory documentation that the first 10 were used as test beds and destroyed - his would be first US VIN in 79. Don't know much more about the process and when it started.

    Dunno about being destroyed

I would say that the very-early production cars tend to be 'special' . . .

Understood - we know this did not happen with the early cars. At some point it became a requirement to crash 10 cars for the DOT. I think this is the reason Porsche never imported the 959 into the US. As I remember Bill Gates offered to computer model the crash of a 959 for the DOT and they said no thanks.
