I've never seen this brace before. Was it standard? Is it still available?

btw - This is a Randy Wells image. Go to Road Scholars Magazine to see a lot of Randy's work. Subscribe and you're going to see a lot more of his work.

    Up to 1973 only.

74 and later cars had a different bash bar.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.

This is interesting. It would seem to be one way of ascertaining if the A/C was factory installed. My '73 had a dealer installed A/c system and never had the protective bars.

What could be interesting is when the owner claims he has factory air and these bars are missing.

Most judges deduct for aftermarket parts. A dealer installed a/c system would fall into this category.

Richard, there's about 50 different ways to distinguish Behr A/C from aftermarket.

    Night and day.

BTW: The protective tubes were not on all Behr equipped cars.
