    Original period Leistritz finish?

I have a couple of NOS Leistritz, part number 901.(111.)011.08 (both dated 7/67) that are painted black (see photos); was this the finish prior to receiving a grey 'exhaust' paint when fitted because all the fitted exhausts I have seen, including period factory photos, show a grey finish. I am aware that there are various grey exhaust paints used these days and indeed some later (6/70 & 11/70) NOS Leistritz are grey as shown in the final two photos.

Any information, or even better period photos, would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Someone on this forum posted 1967 assembly line black and white photos....mufflers were grey and the heater boxes showed a slightly different grey with a reflective lustre suggesting a metallic surface...not as flat as the muffler.

It appears that link at the Revs is down. A quick search of their website suggests we may have lost open access to the photo archives... let's hope not.

Here are the two photos I posted that Radmund referenced above:

    Hi Tim,
The possibility of loosing access to the Revs site triggered a light panic attack yesterday, so started harvesting pictures. The link works for me. Try again and type 911S or Porsche works in the search field. If it still does not work, let me know if you would like me to send over the four pictures showing the muffler in high resolution (2,3MB).

    Hi Tim

I recently purchased a dansk 2in2 out exhaust from Tech 9, originally black I had it zinc plated to duplicate the Grey finish that you have referenced in your pictures. Let me know if you want any pics

    Regards
    Mark

    Hummm..
Have doubts that it was zinc plated. Probably zinc sprayed.
    BIG difference.

    Pics would be great.
    Thanks.
