Thread: Leak at bottom pulley

    Leak at bottom pulley

My 2.2E has a leak at the rear of the engine at the bottom pulley, crank.
Is there a rear seal here that can be replaced with engine in the car, removing ins, tin, motor mount and pulley. If so anyone have a part number as well.
Any reference articles would be great as well.
    Thanks in advance

There's a seal at the pulley end of the crank. Pelican lists this part as 999-113-290-41-M204

I've only installed this with the engine on a stand, it seems like it should be possible to do it without dropping the engine.

There is also an 'O' ring that seals the No.8 bearing (that has the above oil seal in the end of it) to the case halves.
You can replace the oil seal without removing the engine, but not the 'O' ring - it requires the case to be split........ so it's obviously worth doing the oil seal first, but when you do see if there is any sign that the oil is weeping from around the outside of the bearing housing as opposed from through the edge of the oil seal.

Both will cause oil to look like it comes from behind the pulley and pool in the bottom of the motor mount.

You can also have leaks at the case halves in that area that appear like they are from the pulley/#8 area
