Some help with weird vin 13441

Hi guys, can someone shine some light on this; many years ago I bought what I thought was an empty 912 shell which I just some sheetmetal and parts from for my restoration.

I completely forgot about this shell but when I was in the storage today it caught my eye.
While looking at it the vin on the dash (kneepad) caught my attention; 13441
Weird number.. Same vin can be found in the trunk together with a 912 vin I believe.

    Any ideas about this?

    Sounds like Factory prototype territory...

    From the earlier link above:

    13 436

Yup, what Dave Said. Two maybe three years after the 901 cars.

Two known cars number 13 433 was built as (****corrected information) a mechanic training car. 13 433 has the prototype shape of the 911R rear fenders so that would place it about 1966-1967-ish. (****corrected information) 13 440 is factory replacement body with a prototype series number.

So three special cars later this car was made. A training car (***edited question) or a replacement body?
The factory will have to confirm this car and it's build date. They have acknowledged very little info on some of the previous cars.

Factory replacement body. I know of the circumstances for 13440, and bit about 13443; plus several others.

Agreed. And as John Thompson said it is a replacement body for 352814. Probably done relatively early otherwise the later series replacement body shell number would be on it. Interesting to see if it is on the kardex for 352814. Maybe you can ask your countryman who can source those things for a sneak peak at it

All thanks for the info, will try to contact several people about it and will let you know.
Any idea why a replacement body would have a prototype like vin?

The replacement bodies at that stage has the same series of numbers as was used for the prototypes, or perhaps it is More accurate to say that the prototypes were built on "replacement" or non production shells and thus had the same number series as the replacement shells. That stopped with the numbering system that was introduced in 1969 model year when replacement shells has a production number starting with 0 rather than 1 for production bodies
