    Dark green metallic

Just bought a 70 911T, was originally dark green metalic, has anyone seen this color? How rare? Code 8383.
I' m not wild about most greens, but feel obligated to paint it the original color. I'll try to see if I can find a spot of original paint as I disassemble it but would appreciate some photos of cars this color.
Any photos of an original car in this color?
Car was sold in the US, California car its entire life, I think.
Because the car is complete, original and matching, I will paint it this color.

I saw a 2.2 911S at night in 1972 in this color. Never forgot it. It had a wide, black "racing" stripe from hood to engine lid and the strip on the engine lid looked like bar code with horizontal bar widths decreasing in width from the window to the edge of the engine lid. The black stripe was almost lost against the dark metallic green.

I also saw a 1968 911L that was this (or similar) color owned by Stan Mancil in DFW area in same time period.

    Cool color to me.

Pretty sure Dark Metallic Green is the colour of Aussie member Justin Reed'd car. Here's a link from our Australian Region forum with Justin's 68L http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...-29-2016/page2

It is a very nice color. I bought a faded old '69T long ago. I thought it was Irish green. Had it painted. Told the painter the paint code was in the door jamb. I was completely surprised when I came to pick it up. I was expecting Irish green. But it was this dark metallic green you mention. I had never seen this color before. Jumped all the over the the painter about his mistake. He showed me the code. Yup, he was correct. It was a handsome color though, and after getting over the surprise I was very pleased. Car is long gone, unfortunately, and no idea where it is today. Will see if I have any photos, but they will be old faded snapshots if I do.

I've since seen a few others in Dark Green Metallic. You are fortunate to have a car originally such a beautiful and unusual color. Good luck.

It is not Not Dark Green Metallic, but two photos attached of my wife's '88 Targa. Special ordered Emerald Green Metallic, along with the chrome trim and cookie cutters. Trying to convince you that green is good on 911's!

I'm starting to like green more..
It seems that there is a very dark metallic green, could be mistaken for black at night, and then there is what looks like a lighter, more yellow green that almost looks like Irish Green, but metalic.
Does the factory offer a modern da color that is closer to to very dark metallic green.
Matching this to a vintage color may be difficult.
Does any one have the formula?

    Gentlemen,

The car in the Ferdinand article is my Australian delivered rhd 911L

This was the cars original colour 68152 from memory. When I bought the car it was Irish Green. It had been repainted in the 1980s by a previous owner.

When refurbishing my car I wasn't sure if I would repaint it this colour, but I'm so glad I did. The picture in the article was taken on the morning when I first saw it in paint. I could not contain my excitement.

The colour is so complex and really reacts to light.... It can look very dark, almost Irish green in some lights, and almost jade in others.

I was lucky enough to have the car featured in the Australia / New Zealand supplement of Chrsitophorus and the photographer ( a Carrera 3.2 Targa owner) was amazed how much the colour moved around according the the light

If it was the cars original colour I wouldn't hesitate now.... Although I did at the time .....because the only real cars I saw were in midday sun ( very harsh light) at Laguna Seca or in photos (which as we know can be manipulated / enhanced).

The shades changed over the years becoming a bit lighter .... But I'll post a few pictures of my car in different lights from home this evening .

    justin
