    ID an early 911

    Hello everyone

I'm in contact wich a person who would like to sell, what he think is a 1966 Porsche 911.

He does not have the title for the car, a can't find the Porsche vin number on the car, all he has is is some papers saying it's an old racing car produced in 1966 and it contains a frame number: T51NR20.

I have asked for some pictures of the papir he has in hand, and some pictures of the posible numbers under the dash, on the doors, fender, hood.

    I still wait for them.

The car does not have the original enige, as it contain a 2.4 engine installed.

Do anyone know what this number Means? T51NR20
What can I do to identifi this car futher on?

    Thanks

T51NR20 ? I haven't a clue. Perhaps a photo to give context would help. Any numbers on any parts would help narrow down the year. Any photos would help.

Given the lack of information and documentation you may have a very difficult time registering that collection of parts for road use.

Get the number off of the knee pad frame, center line to the car, below the radio...

Most likely it has been stolen at some point of it's life and been issued a new vin# after write-off. Probably the only way to try and find more info is what beh911 suggested. In case the numbers are not there any more, chances to identify the real history are more or less gone. Seen a few of these with similar new vin#s here in Europe.

I think i might could be a danish custom number T for Told, from 25-30 years ago. crashed cars that been declared not saveable by the state, can be bought back of the owner and given a new T-number if the rebuild can be approved.

    pics please
