What to do with too early 007 H1 headlights?

Hi everyone, looking for advice on what to do here:

Somehow, this Targa came with Bosch 007 H1 headlights even though it was delivered in Feb of 72 (to belgium). According to many records here and on our H1 restoration expert's site (http://www.audettecollection.com/h1-history/), they should be 010 from 69 up to 72. Frankly, it wouldn't bother me to instal them as is since only I (and now you) would probably know they are not exactly correct. But, the lights are in a sorry shape and would need all of the 1200$ full restoration offered by Audette & co. For that price, I have seen a few 010 H1's go by, but it's hard to tell if they need restoration or not.

My question is whether I should sell the 007 H1s and buy 010 H1s? Is there a difference in price between the two that I should know? I have not seen any 007 H1 recently for sale to compare.. Otherwise, I could use these but if there is an older car with 010's on it, that makes both cars less original...

Here are some pictures, one of them is missing the plastic tube for the inside screw, both have Bosh raised letter lenses, otherwise complete AFAIK

Definitively a 1st world problem, and not one to really destroy my project, but would love to have your thoughts!

    Dario

If they're in good condition those early 007 lenses are rare and valuable. New 010's are relatively cheap.

BTW, you also have the early low beam bulb holders. That's a very early set of H1's. Definitely in need of restoration judging by the condition of the reflectors. They would have very low light output in their current condition and dangerous to drive with.

    Cheers,

Hi John, thanks for the information. I definitively agree that they must be restored since it's impossible to adjust and all the reflective coating is peeling off! If I understand right, the new 010 do not have the raised letters like the older ones.

Would you venture a guess as to which year these 070 would be from?

    Best,

    Dario

I suspect the 007's were used the first couple of years following the introduction of the H1.

No need to guess. They "revised the optics" with the 010 lens in 5/69.

So, 11/67 to 5/69 was the time period for the 007 lenses...

I like the look of that!

The thread on H1's is excellent, but I was wondering about the "early low beam bulb holders". I didn't realise that there had been a switch in the 007 series. Also, it seems the square plastic plug where the wires go is significantly larger than the ones in the other posts. It has little springs under the wires... weird!

Where do the 09`s fit in this mix? note: these 09`s do not have the K 4560 as the 07`s appear to have; betwixt the BOSCH & 1 305 614 007
