Historically significant, intact examples, like you see at www.porsport.com are alluring to me.
Clapped out, weekend racer examples based on run of the mill high volume models don't interest me at all
Race history for Historic race cars are found on sites like these.
http://www.racingsportscars.com/ and at http://www.ultimateracinghistory.com/
Hopefully the historic race results of most the race cars at the Monterey Reunion can be found on these sites.
The cars in your photos look like modified production cars.
Perhaps SCCA amatuer racing history in this case?
I enjoy perusing this site from time to time...

Most of the old race cars we like today looked like the BMW's above 10-15 yrs after they were initially raced.
I currently picked up a 914-6 that raced IMSA GTU in the early 80's. It's tired but solid stay tuned. More details on Machine-Motorsports Facebook page.

How 'bout clapped-out, rusted, wrecked, poorly-repaired historically interesting but-not-even-a-little-intact ones? . . .
. . . or --- well . . . what's left of 'em, anyway
