Nickel or cad plated or chrome?
The repros available appear to be chrome and slightly different shape so I would prefer to restore the originals.

I had mine redone in clear zinc...certainly seemed to match the originals.

i thought cad was used because it has less friction than zinc..
anyway---for sure it was not chrome

The part number tells the finish.

Early in the 70s i took a set of rails from my '70T to a plater in Indianapolis, and also consulted a metallurgist for Champion Spark Plug who just happened to be a PCA Zone Rep and concours competitor......silver cadmium. This was re-confirmed by my plater in California after I moved there in the 80s...silver cadmium.....only actual cadmium on 900 series up through '73. The urban myth of all the zinc being called yellow "cad" and silver "cad" on all the fasteners has been put to bed....hopefully. But the rails were actually cadmium. Brake lines? Hmmm. Never checked. Interesting.

N=1, but on my very unmolested December '65 coupe, they are silver zinc. Not an opinion but verified with a plating testing kit.

Personally I would not trust anything as labelled concours correct by Stoddards as being concours correct. Been disappointed by that marketing line by them to many times.

I stand corrected. I just checked and the seat rails in my 69 do appear to be silver cadmium after all.

This has to be one of the only places on 911s where it was used.

    Thanks

OK...I'll be the first to admit that my choice to go with clear zinc...no matter what was/is perfectly correct...is perfectly acceptable (at least to me) in my 70-S restoration...just sayin .
