Great shot of the rack of engines and gearboxes. I see HBF, 906 and twin cam motors and 906 gearboxes. What else do u see.

Does anyone know where these pictures were taken? Many of the rally plates on the wall list "service" rather than a number.
I've stitched together a few of the images to provide a better view of one end of the workshop.
It's interesting that this photo seems to show a different passenger door on S L 2264 than what it ran during the event. It's a 70+ door

Fantastic effort in stitching those together
I am not certain but from what I have been told by people who visited before some of these buildings were pulled down and redeveloped (I understand) the location of this photo(s) is in the building behind these RSR's with the blue/grey doors
which i think is the same as on the left of the cars in this one
and in the background here
someone I was talking to recently and who had visited the exact workshop some years ago, and described the location to me, made particular comment about the wood block floors which are clearly shown on your composite photo
i am happy to be corrected on the exact location if anyone has better information

Here is the approximate location of this workshop. It was indeed destroyed.
beh911,
There is one thing for certain, the pictures were taken after the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally since one of the photos shows the winners poster from this event.
It is possible that the pictures show 1970 MY cars getting prepared rather than 1969 MY cars. I wonder if the flares and the shot of the engine compartment showing the double coils can help narrow it down.
Hugh and 928s,
Thanks for providing information on the possible site of this workshop.

I think it’s the same ST as we’ve seen before in other McKlein photos. One of the first photos posted shows the jack mounted on the passenger sill and looks like the Scheel seat profile.
Not to mention,,,, The ‘69 Monte poster has already been produced and is hanging on the wall above the Techs in the last photo. Race was in Jan’69. Wonder how long it took Porsche to roll those posters out?

Eric, as with all of these things it is very hard to tell if all of the photos were taken at the same time or just grouped there when they put them on the site
one thing we know is one of the cars in one of the shots was S-L 2264 which was 119300530
it did the:
1969 Monte Carlo 17 January with Larousse and Perramond Car #31 2nd
1969 San Remo rally 5 March with Zasada and Nowicki Car #1 DNF suspension
1969 Rallye Tulip 27 April with Zasada and Leszczuk Car #2 DNF engine
1969 Rally Poland 16 July with Zasada and Ewa Zasada car #100 1st
It had 3 sister cars S-L 2263 (0529), S-L 2265 (0548) and S-L 2266 (0549)
As far as I can work out the 1969 Monte Carlo was the only time all four were together
S-L 2266 did the Poland rally Car #101 along with S-L 2264 (but the others did not)
S-L 2263 did Mont Ventoux in 1969 with LarousseS-L 2265 did the Austrian Alpine rally car #2 with Zasada
I think that this picture is the crucial one
It shows S-L 2264 BUT it has a roof rack on it suggesting that it may be going to be used as a service car or a T car Typically after about 4 rallies at the most the factory cars were then used as T cars for a rally or two and later as service cars
Also in the background on the wall you can see the bottom corner of the 1969 Monte Carlo winners poster but also the rally plate with 37 on it - Waldegaard's winning car S-L 2263
So I think that this may be a photo for the 1970 Monte Carlo showing S-L 2264 as a service car and the 3 1970 ST's
S-T 5704 9110300001 car # Waldegaard
S-T 5705 9110300002 car #2 Larousse
S-T 5706 9110300003 car #11 Andersson
There looks to me to be enough of a flare on the rear quarters of the cars in the distance (and in the close ups in the other photos) to be 1970 ST's instead of 1969 S's as the did not begin the season at the Monte with significantly flared rear quarter panels (see photo below) but it is a bit hard to tell

Was the plastic 100L tank available for the 69's. I thought those were still sporting the steel tanks. Clearly the plastic tank on the floor.

Another detail is the rear decklids are all MY69.
