Thought the early wood wheels were aluminum?

They were aluminum. I don’t know when extended hubs were available. That could be the difference here.

They are. I have one as on eBay, item 334000643942, which is an extended hub alu wheel.

What date did Porsche change to the steel frame wood steering wheels?

I have owned a couple early aluminum frame wood wheels. They felt much to weak structurally to use for daily driving which is why Porsche phased them out.

But on this one, unlike the one on ebay, you don't see the aluminum core?

The steel framed wheels do not have the inner metal ring exposed like the aluminum frame wheels. Its just a design change that VDM made. My wheel for sale is steel framed thus no exposed "aluminum core".

    Reduced $2600.

Would do a local trade for 15x6 Fuchs as well.
