Angry Scam alert for 9112300505! Is one of our members responsible? You decide.

Last August I purchased, and paid in full, VIN 9112300505. I left the message in the photo for member #795 and it was followed up with a phone call. He never said the car wasn’t for sale or that he hadn’t consigned it with CPR in Fallbrook. His silence led me to believe I owned the car for 6 months!

Here is a photo of the car from the 2021 ESR Calendar:

I posted about purchasing the car on this forum back in December and included pictures I took of the interior work while at Autobahn Interiors: https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...ght=9112300505

Now the car is listed on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-porsche-911s-18/

Would you want to purchase a car that had a pending legal matter?

Do you think ESR member #795 should have disclosed the situation?

I paid in full, had car taken to Autobahn Interiors for interior and then tried to pick up car on multiple occasions. I have not received all money back. Legal action pending for remainder. ESR member had to know what was happening (like when I paid for interior at Autobahn). Now he is selling car on BAT.

I wouldn’t wish this car on anyone until the legal issue is resolved.

So, you bought it from CPR? Are they the ones who did the work you showed in the other thread? Painting over the rusted rear bumpers? Have you never seen it in person? Is the listing on BAT from the guy who actually owns the car? Crazy.

Yes, but the owner was involved and was described as a very close family friend of CPR. CPR did not do the work. The paint over rust and speed nuts was done by original restorer. I saw car in person multiple times after purchase and during the months where I was led to believe I owned car. The guy listing the car is the same owner I thought I bought car from.

As shown above I immediately reached out to the owner and we traded emails and were on the phone. He never mentioned that car wasn’t for sale or that some form of fraud was involved.

Did you request the title to be overnighted after payment was made? Did you ever have the title or see it in person or a photo? Where was the money sent? I'm just trying to understand how this happened.

Woodside Credit was used as a bridge and they took care of Title with CPR. That is until Woodside realized they hadn’t received the Title. A lien payoff letter was provided by the owner, but it was soon found that there was another lien that hadn’t been disclosed. I never saw Title. All funds were sent to CPR.

FWIW, I learned a hard lesson about trust and am responsible for being stupid. I sent an expert to go over the car prior to purchase and covered that base. I thought using Woodside would protect me to an extent and am so glad I did not pay 100% cash. I can’t be sure if owner was paid or how much.

I do know that the owner was aware I had purchased his car last August and he never said a word. I also know that any potential buyer is likely to end up in an unresolved legal mess.

I assume you paid Autobahn for the interior work. This would definitely indicate you purchased the car.

Bat can be in a really sticky situation. Any potential high bidder could probably walk away after they find out about this.

At initial glance car seemed sharp, now appearing tarnished.

Have you contacted BAT? If not, you definitely have to do it! Do you have the receipts of the interior work?

Here is a copy of the Autobahn Interior invoice. Member #795 has never seen this, nor has CPR. I am only one with a copy, because I am the one who paid while under fraudulent belief I owned car. MEMBER #795 HAD TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON.

For privacy and legal purposes I have blocked out sections of the invoice to ensure the original is not used by any other party.
