    Blank case engine stamp 2.3/2.7

I purchased a non running 1968 with a blank case engine. It has been stamped 2.3/2.7 in the sequence number and engine type area.
Has anyone seen this before? .

Just trying to figure out what I have here. Name: IMG_3436.jpeg

Okay, so a Mag case, but which version xR numbers (both sides please) form the casting # under the oil return tube locations.
The 2.3/2.7 would appear to be the engine sizes it was built to at various times. What was the combination when you took it apart? A 2.3 would be a special performance combination but the 2.7 could be nothing special.

Thanks Dave. I will get those casting numbers and post them.

The engine is still complete and turning over. What is inside is a mystery.

That case combo was prevalent during much of the 1971 model year.
I believe the only way to solve your mystery is to disassemble it.
