    Seat restoration discussion

I have the luck to have a pair of extraordionary good 67 sport seats. The seats came out of one car and both have the same condition. Problem was that they had the wrong upholstery.

I questioned myself how to reupholster them. New Pepita or Basketweave is not so problematic to use while having the correct materials - but new corduroy misses the often desired patina.

Since I had a complete set of original 67 corduroy sport seat inlets which were overcovered by another layer of corduroy for decades, I decided to make an experiment.

The corduroy had damages on both tops of the backrest and one sitting part was also unusable. So I adapt another sitting part of a 67 bucket seat and sewed a stripe made out of the defect part on both backrest tops.

So all the materials of the inlets are out of 66/67, the perforated vinyl is new.

The original belts of the 67 seats I reused too but reinforced them with new belts.

The point of discussion is : Is such a restauration desirable although there are the shown mendings or is it a waste of time.

    What is your opinion ?

I also reused all cover materials and only repaired where necessary.
Had parts of the foam replaced and added foam "Kaschierung" on the back of the corduroy

I wouldn’t touch them. Buy some new repos that look right to you but leave these as is. They look great.
A part isn't purchased until paid.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, two rare gems restored with original upholstery. No new basketweave or pepita can beat this.

These seats are already touched, that is the theme and they are fully fit for normal use.

I have three seats by Michael. 67 sport seats and a 68 bucket driver. He is the best.
