While it appears there are some differences of opinion precisely when Porsche made the change from smooth to rough grain vinyl, I thought vinyl samples provided by Dave Brown, as well as an example of his work, might be helpful visual references.

Looks like Dan and Dave use pretty much the same stuff.

Agree! And both are very talented guys that exhibit extremely impressive workmanship.

Thanks for the information about vinyl material and the pictures of restored targa tops. Really impressive work and fit.

Wondering if anyone knows if various internal parts are interchangeable between years. I am looking for part #60 in this diagram. I was told that it is different for F and G models (mine is a G) but not sure that is correct. Would appreciate info and any advice folks might have.

I think only the G type is available these days, it fits but requires some trimming.
Talk do Dan or Dave as I am sure they can advise you on what and how much to cut.
It fairly pricy $350+, so you want to get it right.
Is it the rubber part or the frame you want?

Apologies, Jim, I helped hijack your thread. Just sent an e-mail to Dave Brown asking for guidance and will post his response once received.
