Thank you! Thos 0001 and 0002 were something totally new to me. Also I have never before seen CDI -box as an option before.

Huf SG keys were used for Porsche front hood locks from the 1950s to at least 1969, after which there were major key changes.
Photo below of two correct SG keys, with last two digits of the code taped over (SG 1xx); Mikkoh's key code was SG 178.

Yes, I have that key as my car had the optional front trunk lock. And it's on my kardex in the option code list.

I just never made the connection...

    thanks again

Was the front hood lock only installed on the Targa models?

The 911 parts number aligns the front deck lid lock with Targa VINs. The coupes had the hood release behind a lockable door and a steel roof.

By the way, the front deck lid lock first appeared with the 1959 356A Cabriolet (halfway through the T2 bodies). The parts catalogs don't show the lock for Convertible Ds but do show them for 356B Roadsters. I understand it was a VW lock with a little adapter "support" to fix it to the differently shaped bodywork in a 356.
