Tom - I don't understand the connection between your link & Dave's question about the correct colour for an early 911 gas tank.
The company in your link only seems to offer products for leather care!

I think I recall someone saying there is a Wurth spray on product that matches the color and texture exactly. This may mean a strip down of the old coating though.
Here's a couple Pelican Threads where it was discussed. Hope they help.

Dave, I think that what Porsche did was to use the same "body schutz" (such as Wurth SKS Stone Guard - Gray) as they used on the inner wheel wells, etc but left it 'bare' - ie they didn't topcoat it.

we've tried the sks , but the color is somewhat off- perhaps we'll have to try again- the texture is difficult to match
thanks
At first the grey colour seems a bit too 'bright' but over a period of time it develops a brownish tint.

I did mine with SKS stone guard. Very silver upon application but this does turn to the brownish tint grey with time.
I learned by accident that letting it sit in the sun for a few days accelerates this process, big time.
The texture is hard to match. I had best luck applying it thick, then letting it skin over and partially set up. Then use a coarse sponge to dimple it.
thanks chuck , we'll give that a try
I have the Wurth stuff, but haven't used it yet. It says to make sure to prime the tank first and as I had it sandblasted, I better do that. After I get the texture on, I will evaluate the color. However, since Wurth can be painted over, I might do that. As far as color goes, RustOleum Hard Hat light machinery grey looks to be a dead match to the underside of my tank holddowns.
Edit: On second inspection, I think the light machinery grey needs a touch of black, or even better, some RustOleum dark machinery grey. I'm guessing 4:1 light over dark. I'll play with it, if it's a concourse thing. I used to tint paints.
