    Dash speaker panel mounts

    Guys,

Getting my car on the freeway, had some interesting airflow up under the dash. It caused the speaker panel to lift out of its mounts (I don't think it was mounted right to begin with). I noticed 4 grommets/pins (male) that go through 4 holes in the surrounding dash (female). It looks like there were some one-time use wax or plastic washers that they pressed through to hold them inplace. In my case, 2 were missing and 2 were cracked. My question is where to get replacements for those washer thingys or are there alternative ways to attach that panel that people use?

Yeah, mine levitates at speed too. I was half-a$$ thinking of adding a weight (aka plumb bob) to the cover, but that would be add'l weight wouldn't it? I think various year covers attach differently too (some have prongs instead of pins?).

Has anyone given this serious-enough thought for a clean solution? A new cover is ... surprise, big bucks.

    Sherwood,

Glad to hear yours does the Hover at 65 too. My cover is in perfect shape. It seems that some kind of press on washer from below would hold the prongs (they look sort of barbed). I'm very open to a creative solution since its hidden under the dash anyway.
