    Early Hood Crest

Can anyone please post a picture of an early hood badge, the one with the orange bars? Is there any differance between the repros sold today and an original? Anyone have a real good original for sale?

    Thanks

    Rudy,

I trust someone will soon post a pic of an early badge...

Original early badges are getting hard to come by... most of us don't want to part with them...

As far as repros go... The first batch done for Stoddard were great, I got mine in 1990 through Tweeks Long Beach (no longer there)
... unfortunately the repros I have seen since have been inferior... the finish seems too 'brassy', almost plastic looking... and the color of the orange stripes is way off, too brownish.

Good originals or repros are not easy to find...

    Good luck...

    Early Crest

It's known that different batches of the early OEM crests had variations in color. Here's one version.

Thanks all, it looks like the prancing horse is on a dark background on the originals and on a bright backround on the repro. Still interested in purchasing one if anyone has one available.

Actually, I don't think there are any differences that major. The light in mine is very different than in Jens'. The horse is on a non-textured background in both. Age and light explain the rest.

Jack, the color of your crest looks really close to an original. Here's a '67. What was the source for yours?
