I have checked out the car & took it for a test drive. The body is in perfect condition, no rust spots anywhere, and the (repainted) silver paint is in very good condition. The engine pulls strong and all gears shift smoothly. Current owner has put 2k mls on the car during the last 6 years. Has quite some documentation (incl detailed photo documentation of bare-metal strip and repaint). Dash is in very good condition (one very tiny crack). Door pockets are missing (aftermarket speakers), aftermarket stereo.
Only reason I passed on this one is the non-original engine. Other than that - a great exemplar.
You asked...
I personally like my ground up restoration cars to have matching tail light lenses, but that's just me. While a minor fix effort wise, it speaks more to attention to detail. How many other three figure small fixes like this to get it right is what I would be thinking. There are numerous not quite right things on the car. We're not even at the restoration steps and effort yet either.
With the comments made in the ad description and the solid asking price, I would want to see more factual information rather than the hyperbole presented. See if you can get that from the seller.
I'm not suggesting intentional misrepresentation but rather someone describing a car in a way that creates more questions than answers.

Here's a drivable project car in San Francisco. '71 T Targa. Anyone know it? It's rare to have a seller post pictures of a front suspension pan this far gone, but at least it's a common repair with a known cost range...
