    Beh911, great pictures.

The bump on this thread has got me thinking. Apparently Porsche supplied three ST cars to privateer race teams in early 1970. The 59, 63 and the 65 numbered cars had no rear flares at the prelims in April. They are also listed as 2247cc in the race details. Are these the three ST factory issued cars.? Anyone know the chassis numbers.?

That photo was at the Le Mans Test for 1970. My records have it as 119300932 and was #62 in the 1970 Le Mans race for Mazzia and before that as factory rally car winner at the acropolis in 1969 S M 2929 for Pauli Toivonen
also as le mans car #37 in 1971 for Mauroy and in 1972 le mans as car #45 For Bardini. It also did a number of TdF's and other rallies on registration plates 293 AQ92 then 7793 HG 78 (le mans 1970 and some later) and 2182 HY 78

Thanks Hugh. I will ask Claudio for some recent pictures and information. Hugh, what do we know about Club Romand.? Do we think it is quietly backed by Porsche.?

It is interesting that some sources claim that both the 64 & 65 cars in 1970 were Romand cars. Claude Haldi has also took the wheel in a lot of there drives in the early 1970's....?

Thanks Hugh. Your ability to track the competition cars is amazing!

Interesting the paths taken by the factory cars after their original outings...

the records I have of the entries for that year (which I think came from the official ACO Le Mans website years ago) shows car #64 entered by Haldi and Haldi as a nominated driver who practiced in it but did not race ( along with Jacques Rey, Arthur Blank and Edgar Bemey) (and with Vin 13442 listed as well as a notation of being car #65 at the test) and car #65 as entered by Hart Ski Racing with only the actual drivers nominated plus Jacques Rey who did not start. This suggests to me that car #64 was their main entry with #65 as the back up car. Rey ended up in car #63 which he entered under Rey Racing co driving with Cheneviere from France - possibly to guarantee an entry given that Cheneverie was French. So there was a strong presence from the Club

The full name of Club Romand is really "Club Porsche Romand" and is an official Porsche club that was founded in 1961. As to whether Club Romand was quietly backed by Porsche or not I suspect the answer is yes but indirectly, maybe in an unofficial way in that the people involved in the club were close to the factory through club membership, the contacts there helped with sponsorship, they received first options on ex werks cars and assistance with other cars (some of the club member always seemed to have the most up to date equipment). I think the factory did that with a number of unofficial ties in Europe but maybe someone in Switzerland may have better information.

Rumoured to be an ST. entry number 48 in the 71 Le Mans race. Sold in the UK around 2002. Does anyone have the chassis number or any details of the sale of this car.?

Dave I have it recorded as 911 030 1108 "Chiquita III"

I am sure that Karim on this board can confirm that and fill you in on the details as I understand he knows the current owner
