I have the hose in black & in bulk. I thought the brown was used for the inside heater ducts...is this incorrect.

That's my take also, black rear heater hoses, brown at the fresh air vent system under the dash, but I have seen a brown hose used from the air cleaner snorkle to the heater tube stub on the right side rail.

I too need these. I would call them a browny black color. I heard the only way to get the "proper" colored ones was to order directly from Porsche. So far the usual suspects have all told me theirs are silver, shinny black or card board tan. Would love it if anyone has solid info here.

Hi Mark-
Yes, those were taken from Armando Serrano's 914-6 GT website. He's a good friend of mine, I don't think it's a problem. In fact he's looking for the brown hose as well. My 71' 914-6 (purchased new and still have her) had the brown hoses both up front under the dash and in the engine compartment. I think the hoses in the engine compartment see much more wear and tear so the black ones found their way into the engine compartment over the years causing the confusion. There is a light brown hose available but it's more of a tan color, closer but still not 100%. I'm off to LA tomorrow to meet Armando and driving up to Laguna Seca for Rennsport, I can post some pictures after I return.
Thx,
Bernie

I thought they all started as black and eventually turn brown
They're "brown" only from age/oxidation/heat. Fresh and new they are BLACK. Sierra Madre had them, but you have to call an ask for the "original" stuff. Otherwise you get the silver PorscheAG/dealer stuff. The heater box/valve hose is orange silicone and Jim at EASY has the right stuff. Again the dealer stuff may be technically better, but is no where close to original.
