    1968 911L targa soft window

    Hello all,

I am new here. Been lurking for awhile and decided today was the day to start posting. Anyway, I own a 1968 911L. Original Fuch wheels, sportomatic, soft window Targa, original sidemarkers which are unique to the '68 USA, VIN# 11855044. Good shape, very solid body with no rust issues. Great car. Its not currently running ( fuel line is gummed up) I have owned it for 12 years. It was originally a project for my grandfather and I to work on together but he and my grandmother have had health issues and I now have small children so it doesn't get the attention it deserves anymore. It has been sitting in the garage covered for a few years now. I not sure if its something I want to get rid of but I was wondering if anyone would have a guess on price. I was thinking 15K but not sure if Im living on another planet with that price or if that would be giving it away. Any help would be great. This seems to be the place for expert information on early 911s.

Its currently surrounded by street rods so gettinggreat pictures was a struggle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please respond to Dustin with PMs.... Once he pins down a price he'll re-post in 'Classifieds'... Thanks

Hi9 Dustin-- I think 15K would be giving it away Soft window targas are highly sought after. with that Slate Grey with red interior, no rust issues or big crashes on the body, matching engine, tranny is a smaller issue because some people might want to convert the tranny to a 5 speed. Ball park 27k to 34k is my guess.

A Slate Grey over red SWT will make for a very stunning car. Some may not care for the Sportomatic but more of them are starting to be saved (I'm partial as I have one).

Welcome and good luck with the sale.

    Thank you guys.

Macroni- The body is very solid. No rust issues.
Teenchy- I can't lie Im am partial to the sportomatic as well For me it always gave the car a little more personality.

In any sale, always start high. You can always lower the price, especially if you're not in a rush to sell. That being said, to get what it's worth, you'll need to pull it out of storage, clean it up and prepare it as best you can for a PPI. Best of luck.

Your a little behind the 8 ball with a 2 liter sportomatic as far as performance. My tech says a 2.2 liter car or bigger is the one to get for a fun Sportomatic. I will install a 5 speed in mine but keep the sporto tranny and all the parts for the next owner.

Then on top of everything else You have a 911L. America's 911S for 1968. A one year only production car. 911L's are sought after as well with low production numbers. My Euro Spec 911L is only one of 720 made. U.S. spec cars are even less like 540 made.
