    Bosch Black Coil Stickers

In researching this topic, there are a few threads in the forum, many of them older and dormant that leave a few questions unanswered.

    1. Can someone clarify which coil in the following pics (borrowed from forum threads) is correct from a sticker quantity standpoint? I've seen restored cars with none, older cars with fading two stickers, fading 3 stickers, then NOS pics of 3 sticker coils. This is for a 69S, so stubby black CDI transformer coil.

    2. There is a thread from before my time where a gentleman had made excellent repros of some of these stickers (http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ght=coil+decal). Anyone know if there is still a source for these or have an extra set they would like to part with?

    3. The stickers in question #2 leave out the Bosch blue sticker, so where to find that if it's indeed 'correct'.

    Thanks!
    Bryce

And to make matters more interesting, here is a supposedly factory plated '69 car from a period road test with what appears to be a coil with no stickers...

That is my next question . I've been researching that one, and ditto, same issue. Lots of discussion about appropriateness on later longhoods, but as the years get back to 71, 70, 69, there is a lack of conclusive, authoritative posts.

I would not use a road test car as an example for correctness. They were frequently very early examples and many production touches would be missing. The later (73-) ones that I was involved with were missing many decals and even some of the finishes were different.

I'd also be interested in a source for black coil stickers if anyone knows of one.

X2, bought a pair from him the other year; I also though he advertised them in the Esses.-see page 34 in the March 2011 issue.

We (the Registry) have very high quality coil stickers as well......
Unfortunately they do not show up on the boutique page on our web site.......
However, they are advertised in ESSES

Please get in touch with Michael Hammond........

    Thanks

    Chuck,
The Marken decal, #1 for model year 1969, shown in the Registry ad above, states that its use started in February 1970 for 1969. Production for model year 1969 started in August/September 1968 and ended approximately July 1969. Shouldn't decal #1 actually be for the 1970 model year?

    Tom,

The decals should correspond to the end date result of the World Makes Manufacturers Championship, not so much the beginning to end date of the model year.

Robert Gross put a lot of homework into the application dates, I trust they are correct.......

    Cheers
