Should the oil hose in the picture be bent upwards or downwards? One picture is with the hose upwards and the other downwards. When the hose is bent upwards I think it could rub on the engine tin.

My 70 is bent downwards.
Thanks, that was my assumption. But I just had to check if it could hang as low as the heat exchangers. BTW would there be a problem if it was bent upwards, except if it rubbed against the engine tin?

John when I purchased new lines, mine where about 3" longer then the original, causing mine to hang below the HE, a bit lower then yours in fact.
I ended up taking mine to a hydraulic shop and got then to shorten it. I've got it still hanging down, but now it's the same the length as the one I took off the car, and it sits above the HE.
Thanks Classic, mine is at the exact same hight as the HE.

Here's a visual. What I believe to be original lines on my car which sit a bit higher than the ones shown and being discussed.
I like the idea of having yours shortened or adjusted in some way to keep them away from the heat exchangers and being the lowest point underneath the car.
The originals didn't bend, over the years the oil-out location in the tank moved around so what we have today is a mismatch between a one size fits all hose and the various oil tank configurations. I would have the hose shortened.

John,
Let me know if you need any help with the shortening of the line. I can redo with the correct Cohline parts/crimper. If you want we can put the old style wrap cured hose on as well..

Mine was recently replaced with a Porsche supplied oil hose and it is bending way below the heat exchangers too. Brad, I think I might need to hit you up for a replacement. Here is what mine looks like. Is anyone else getting these this way? Where are you guys finding the right sized hose?
