    1966 911 - 67k original miles

No affiliation and I know nothing about the car other than what is posted. It looks to be an exceptional example so I thought it worth its own thread.

I like it a lot. The only eye catching thing that I miss are the solex carbs.

    Richard,
I know that the car is missing its Solex carb's for their originality. But the Webers on the car now are a vast improvement in performance. As you surely know, the Solex carb's were well known for their flat spot. As stated in the Peter Morgan book, "Original 911", The first production 911's used Solex overflow carburetors, but although these functioned like an injection system, they needed to be kept in very close tune. The Solexes replaced the triple downdraft types fitted on the Frankfurt prototype. Unfortunately they gave gave the new engine a significant flat spot around 2500 rpm's, and two triple-choke Weber 40 IDA carburetors quickly became the standard fit for racing. On the road cars, no other solution could be found..."

I would take the Webers over the Solexes any day of the week, if for nothing else for the fun factor of actually driving the car...

It's not longer necessary to take Weber over Solex. Duel Motorsport can modify them.

BTW actually this is a 65 build car (MY66).

Also interesting to note is the fact it has an alu wood wheel and I think incorrect radio knobs.
