Albert Blue vs Gold for hotrod ?

As soon as I can get the silver '73 T 3.2 hotrod completed and sold (have to install oil cooler) my 9 year old daughter and I will be launching into my '71 T project. The core car is a never restored, painted perhaps once in original GOLD color '71 T that needs everything. She has minimal rust but needs a total ground up restoration.

The goal is a hard core lightweight track and street hotrod. I will be shooting for 300hp and 1900lb. Car will remain narrow body but have full racing suspension though it will be driven on the street. I am looking to duplicate the hotrod '69 S I used to have... but more power and even lighter.

The car was originally Gold. Not something that immediately grabs me, but I do not recall seeing one in person and the paint on the car now is ancient and terrible. I have searched but have not found very many good photos of Gold cars.

I am partial to Albert blue. I have been thinking Albert blue overall, with a single wide center stripe in a darker blue with deep burgundy thin stripes to the sides. Perhaps Porsche script on the side also in a matching dark blue. The idea with dark blue on albert blue would be to have the stripe be somewhat subtle.

Anyhow.... both tough colors to find many photos of. Opinions and any pictures of Albert blue and Gold are much appreciated.

Albert Blue is one of my top 3 colors too, but a Gold hotrod would be cool too! My opinion is that gold is an underappreciated retro color and since it was the original color and very rare, I think I would lean that way if it were my car. I also think that gold is much cooler in person than in photo.

Here is a gold 71 S that JSmith used to have

colors are just a personal choice or fashion preference. your two choices also break down to solid color or metallic. i think the early solid colors are unique. instead of gold metallic, howbout bahama yellow or signal yellow/orange ?

Terry, like your thoughts on the dk blue and maroon stripes.
I'm going to do a DE or 2 this season and will consider that look with some removable vinyl.

    Heres some Albert Blue...

Thanks for the feedback. Your link goes to the photobucket main page, does not link to any actual car photos for me. I would love to see the photos of your Albert blue car, if you can post another link!

    Thanks!
