Seeking Input from the Community of Enthusiasts

    Friends,

I am honestly soliciting a group discussion about how I should approach the restoration of my car. As some of you might recall from my other postings, my project's VIN is 11880001, making it the very first 1968 911 targa. The COA says it was built August, 1967, and it had headrests, fuchs, and leather seats among the factory options. I'm trying to replicate those options, as well as repaint it the original color.

I was considering putting "S" trim on the outside, and "S" gauges into the dash, but now I am reconsidering those "s" thoughts, and I'd like to hear what you guys think.

Please feel free to share your advice. I have ample time to change my mind.

Thank you all, in advance, for your input.

If you are looking to retain long term value, for a car that significant (first VIN of a series that is fast becoming very collectible), I would restore it per its original build specifications.

If value/investment is not your main goal with this project, then I would do whatever you want.

    It's really that simple.

Personally, I would go the originality route, leaving off whatever extras we all know make it a more feature rich car but aren't apparently 'correct' for its birth.

Ditto. Once you start straying from the original equiptment, it will loose its appeal. "you'll wind up saying "Yep, its all original equiptment except for ...bla,bla, bla" The wrong car to modify IMHO.
This coming from a guy that hot rods every car he has had...
