Trunk finish: Is this OEM or???

I am not sure if my trunk came from the factory this way or not. Perhaps a PO worked on it... any insight would be helpful. It is a 1970T Tangerine..

That looks OEM. There is considerable variation car to car, year to year. The paint is usually thin, with black paint on the shock towers extending inwards to the luggage compartment.

    '70 Trunk Finishes

    My '70 (Euro) looks different . . .

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ty-nine/page23

The back half (including the shock-towers) of my car looks like its finished in a thin pre-coat/over-spray of the original color

The front half (including the spare well and battery boxes) looks like it was schutzed first, then pre-coated/over-sprayed w/ paint --- but then re-coated black after

All sheet metal + finishes in the trunk are original --- only the black in the well was touched-up since my purchase. The beigey-smudgey stuff is some kind of contact cement used to affix the carpeting

This looks correct for the Porsche-built 1970’s I have seen so far. The only exception is the black color in the tank support/battery area. The cars I have seen had no black finish there. Although I have seen 2-3 cars that had an amber/transparent coat in that exact area. (possibly dried wax?)
    Everything else looks spot on.

    Here are some shots of an original-un-restored US-market Targa . . .

I learn from the best. I don't have all the answers, but I know where to get them.

So, a previous post on the same subject of course! By someone of authority, like edmayo.

Check out this link and look at the first few things that pop up.
