Tires .... OK I said it. I'm a bit confused

So the old 185/70VR X15 tires are gone except for XWX's from "Michelin" for $500 a tire ....?

Forgive me but what are some good street tire alternatives? Brand, model and sizes would great be appreciated (Past threads I didn't find in the searches would be great as well)

    Sincerely,

I just found this tire size calculator- Helpful in comparing at change in tire size http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html It doesn't calculate fit, of course.

    195/60 X 15 are close.

I just put these Vredestein Sprint Classic on- 185/70R15. Great tires and around $150 each.

Tires are one of the biggest challenges in this hobby.

Most everything else, except for oil, brake pads and shocks, doesn't wear out.

Finding the right size and performance tire for our cars, with a vintage appearance, is becoming a royal PITA (especially if you drive them). The biggest challenge is manufacturers keep deleting and/or replacing the model tire they used to make..

FYI on comparison of sizes. List of available brands may be different since I snapped this about a year ago.

Porsche recommends to install 195/65-15 in replacement as an alternative. Here is the link http://files.porsche.com/filestore.a...d-7350f0aca1db to the complete list of the latest approved tires. I had both XWX 185/70-15 and Pirelli 195/65-15 P6000 N1 ... wouldn't go back to the former after trying the latter.

The Michelin XWX are really worth it even of they are expensive. The performance and the look are excellent. They are about the only VR rated tire in The 185 size. You also have Avon, great tire also.
