The most awesome 44 year old box I have ever seen

Today is a good day, I finally found my precious. It came in this box.

That old label on it says made in Western Germany and it contained a rare part for a rare car. That box held my brand new Bosch MFI pump. We still have not taken it out of the plastic but it still looks so so cool.

That is a late 1969 model year 911 E MFI pump the 002 pumps had some issues and later in that year they came out with the 006, they did the same thing with 001 and 005 on the S model cars. It has been a long wait but I'm so looking forward to getting put in car.

My mechanic, is an old 60's -70s race car driver turned mechanic, he has lots of connections and tracked down the MFI for me. I really feel blessed about the whole thing. That pump is going to end up being worth as much as the car.

Very true, and I can't wait. When I got the car the PO had put a CIS on it that was not working order. Everything was there except the critical MFI.

You really do have to appreciate these MFIs they are very impressive pieces of mechanical engineering. I'm glad I was patient and didn't convert the car to efi, putting the MFI back on is the only way to go with these early 69-73 cars IMO.

that's exactly the pump I need at the moment, anyone have a spare/core 002 or 006 that I can buy? I got everything else.
that 69 looks like a nice car, original color? the mirror placement is incorrect tho.
congrats on converting it back to MFI. that's what I strive to do also when possible.

Yeah, you are right about the mirror, it was month before I noticed it. Yup original color the COA says polo read paint code 6802 which I think is a special burgundy color. Stupid COAs, so screwed up.

I paid big bucks for that pump, but it is the real deal and in brand new shape ready to go for 100,000 miles, the car has 68,000 original miles already so I think I'm good.

69 E Polo? I hadnt realised that the Polo color went to 69...very cool color.

...as for the pump, I've got time,... I'll rattle the cages of my favorite parts junkers and find a good core and send it out if I am to dole big bucks.
However Ive been able to clean up and put back in service good used pumps.
    thanks for the offer.
