    306565S Coupe . . .

I thought all 911S had tachometers with 7200 rpm redlines. This example appears to have a non-S tach.

+1 The Bonhams tachometer photo in Lone Ranger's #1353 post looks like it would have come out of a normal '67 911 or a 911E if such existed in the 1967 MY.
The photo below reflects the correct redline indication on a '67 911S tachometer.

    Auction Description:

    • Last of the 'pre-facelift' 911s
    • Sold new in France by Sonauto
    • Matching chassis, engine and gearbox numbers
    • Registered in France

All 911 variants received the 2.4-litre unit for 1972, by which time the 911S featured the stronger Type 915 five-speed gearbox and 6"x15" alloy wheels as standard. Not sold in the USA, the 911S produced 190bhp, some 40 horsepower more than was on offer to American customers (NOT TRUE - USA had same bhp rating). The most obvious external change from the 2.2-litre models was the addition of a small chin spoiler, adopted to improve high-speed stability. Porsche had built 1,430 2.4-litre 911S coupés by the time production switched to the 2.7-litre model for 1974. The '2.7' was the first 911 to incorporate the large impact-absorbing bumpers, disliked by many purists for whom the '2.4' is the last 'old school' 911 and therefor all the more collectible.

This matching numbers Porsche 911S 2.4-litre coupé was delivered new in Avignon, France in November 1971 via the Sonauto dealership. The car was purchased by the current owner four years ago from marque specialists Art Restoration of Holtzeim near Strasbourg, having previously belonged to a Mr Degre for 18 years. Finished in gold metallic with black leather interior, the Porsche was repainted a few years ago and is described as in good condition and very straight, with no rust. It has been serviced regularly by Porsche specialists Triniane Racing of Grenoble, France and comes with a substantial file of invoices.

Noteworthy features include electric windows, Recaro seats, new batteries and a Dansk stainless steel exhaust, while accompanying documentation consists of the aforementioned invoices, Porsche letter of authentication and French Carte Grise.
