RoW/Euro cars sometimes had Kangol or Klippan (mine).
DOT requirements for RoW/Euro cars was different in each country.

They made them but they were extremely RARE because they were an option that few opted for. I've seen a grand total of 3 pre-72 retractable belts in my entire life; not 3 pairs, mind you, just 3. And none have ever been installed in a car.
Cornklin told me he has a pair, I have a pair stashed away somewhere in the shop, and I believe you just bought the NOS driver. Those are the only ones I know of but I have yet to see them installed in a car.

John, as Marco says, they were an option, very rare.

FWIW, the retractable reel seat belts weren't approved for the U.S. market until MY70, but were available ROW for MY69 onward.
This is great information. Here are the pics of the NOS driver belt I just sold here. The irony is that when I bought this belt from Automobile Atlanta years ago, I ordered a retracting belt for 1972 cars, and this is what they sent me. Not the right part, but I held onto it anyway. Maybe they have more in stock? Just ask for 1972 belts <BR>
I think those were to convert a Targa non-retractable to retractable, that's what the plastic socket is for, that is where you cut the material from the rear side bolster for the belt end to come up through. The hole is already in the bolster, you just need to cut the material and insert the socket.

Does this appear to be the correct euro retractable shoulder belt for a '70 (Autoflug reels, Repa tongue is stamped 1970). A pair of these came in a box of parts with my '73 project car, but I am looking for the correct (euro) '73 retractable belts. Any help is appreciated.
