70-71 seat mounting hardware finish question

I pulled the seats out of my '71 T to have them recovered. The mounting plate that attaches to the chassis was removed for cleaning.

It seems that those hex head bolts and washers were brush painted to blend them into the black. One other '71 that I checked was the same way. Cornpanzer's photos of the 700 mile '70S shows plated hardware.

    Anyone have other observatons?

    Thanks for the info.
Since my car was Karman built the black oxide bolts makes sense.

I just went out to clean these bolts and take a closer look. Both the bolts and flat washers were yellow (gold) cad plated and then painted after installation. Anyone else find this to be true?

I imagine the paint on the fasteners is not original. That area is sort of a catch all black hole. Probably a clean up attempt by a previous owner. Interesting that your car has yellow zinc fasteners.

So much for my Karmann theory in the link above or maybe cutover date to yellow was before your car rolled down the line.
