    Anyone know this car?

I saw this car on the West Side Highway in NYC when I was coming home from a 300 mile jaunt in the Catskills. I zipped through traffic to catch up and he took off like a bat out of hell, all exhaust smoke and carbed engine roar. Pretty cool. I eventually pulled along side in the molasses like traffic of Manhattan on a Sunday evening and was told he bought the car two years ago from Arizona, it was a 912 with a 1966 911 engine with a 1973...something, couldn't hear the rest and then our separate lines of traffic split us up and having enough I went home via 9th Avenue. Cool car, sunroof, side stripes, California low, not a particularly voluble owner.

Damnit how do I flip photos?

At first blush I thought it was mine! But I remembered that I drove my other car into the city recently. My '66 has a historical plate, but my other car has a FGZ license plate too....

I just saw an orange Targa on Arch St. in Greenwich yesterday that I didn't get a chance to snap a picture of. Same question, anyone here know the car / owner?

Thanks for flipping my photo Chuck. ANy suggestions as to how to post photos taken in the vertical so as not to be posted in the horizontal?

And really, no one here knows this car? Come on it has to have come from an Early S member. Car also had a roll bar.

Well, you see the Hustler Club in the background so there is a moden alley a block or so down. Really don't rate moden bowling alleys. I had a postman that was a very good bowler so we used to go out to Queens on Saturday afternoon where you paid by the hour not the game. At the time I could bowl in the low 200's but the next day my arm would just about fall off. We would walk home towards the Queensboro Bridge, drinking a beer every two blocks. Needless to say, I was so plastered by the end of it.

I know it seems like all the early 911 enthusiasts are here in the registry but in my experience it is not the case. I prod customers to use the registry for info and many have not used it or never heard of it.
Good to try to reach out to an owner. I do when I see them also.
    Good car and photo.

    Hi Harvey,

I knew he wasn't on this site because he had no real interest in talking about his car or cared much about mine. In fact he asked if mine was a 911? I thought that was a joke. But I did think that the person who created the car in Arizona would be here. Or at least someone who knew the car from Arizona or somewhere out West. Lowered, side stripes, roll bar, 1966 911 engine hotted up in a 912, very trick.

There was a viral web photo from a couple years back of a guy in a Santa Claus suit standing next to his smashed up red SWB 911 on the streets of manhattan. Later it came out it was a 912. Could be the car.

I can't be the only one who remembers that pic. How many red SWB Porsches can there be in Manhattan?
