Correct finish on engine bay and inner fenders on a 71?

I was pretty sure that my engine bay should be paint it in black as well as the inner fenders, but after cleaning them I found what it looks like OEM silver paint over the rough protective finish. So now I am confused if I should finish them in silver (same as the car color) or black?

'71 probably matters where Karmann T or not... My K-T has a black engine compartment.

A friend told me that it Was till 1974 that Porsche started painting the engine bays the same color as the car. I am going to take his advice and live the OEM finish and only paint over it in a satin black.

I researched this topic before. It started a bit earlier than that, during the late longhood years.

For your 71, it's black in the engine compartment for sure.
