Black paint in the inside perimeter of the doors?

Hello, I found this picture in the forum and made me think if I should paint mine like that on a silver 8080-H 1971?
    Was it OEM finish?

Yes, the original was brush painted but much easier with a gun when you're doing the black.

The door cards and pockets don't cover the entire door, so you would see color around the surrounds of the trim.

You know, after looking at the picture of the SWB OEM door I realize that the black paint does not cover all the perimeter area in the inside, so I ask a Friend and he told me that the purpose of that black sealant was to hold the plastic whether liner that was install at the factory to keep moister out and not for a cosmetic matter.......
    So now I am confused......

In the picture the door was painted and he will now have to go back and redo the black out to the edge of the door. What holds the plastic liner on is the glue you see as brown areas on the white surface, there is no black sealant used,,,,ever.
