Thanks for sharing the pics. I found the SF Craigslist listing.
The seller makes no bones that the car needs sorting out from a fresh restoration, so you need to make sure you account for that in your offer.
Lots of minor little details ask for attention if you are going for a concours correct car.
Great advice from others as well.

As for valuation, look at the Hagerty guides as a baseline. If this car checks out from a PPI and is color correct and numbers matching, I agree with Brian (above)... low to mid 50s in today's market.

PPI at your preferred location is key. My next question to the group would be where to get the car looked at if you don't have a place in mind.

If you love the car and the PPI looks good, I hope it works out for you

    FWIW...

Leland West, without hesitation, gave me an agreed upon value of $69K last month when I renewed the policy on my '69E

You know, I love these old Porsches. Used to own one. Would I pay $69000 for one? No.

ME believes the owner might have put some good $ to get it to where it is so 69K is what he is looking for but offers are always a given... diegok no worries the rude thing... :-)

I don't know much, but I believe that car to be pushing the 60K mark in it's current condition. A good quality E sorted and restored should bring around 80K and there examples that have. It's not your run of the mill T. Some restored Ts have been priced in that range including a T in our classifieds here. If the car checks out I'd pay 60K for that car all day long. Driver SWBs are bringing 65K. You get a lot of car with an E. I think the posters here are not placing enough value on the E in general. Just my 2 pennies.

Kind of ironic that this car is located just a few miles from me. I had a 70 E with Irish Green on the paint code.

The ad reads: "new motor 0 miles , new mechanical fuel injection. new pant , new breaks and lines. needs tune up."
Needs a tune up? Come on.

Seller said the car was in great shape, which I trust, but didn't want to give me a few days to have a mechanic go to his place to do a PPI or take it to a shop in two days, so he decided to move on. Might be letting a good car go, but I prefer to let a good car go than risking getting a money pit. There are a lot of cars out there. Thanks for the help guys - important lessons to use in the next one.

You made the right decision I believe... Trust no one in this market, Caveat Emptor.
