    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are pleased to offer this very rare 1967 Porsche 911S Soft Window Targa -- considered by many collectors to be the "Holy Grail" of vintage Porsches. Chassis number 500215S was completed on March 7, 1967 and is one of fewer than 500 911S Targas produced that year.

COA confirms the ultra-rare outside thermometer mounted in the dash and the original color of Blood Orange (which later was called Tangerine). The car comes with correct 4.5x15" factory Fuchs, a 1967 non-matching 911S engine with correct (and very rare) 40IDS Weber carbs, and a 1967 911S transmission (the 901/02 gearbox for the 911S has a taller fifth gear). The car still has its original Webasto gas-fired heater mounted in the smuggler's box under the bonnet. A few trim bits are missing here and there, but the car retains its soft window handles (expensive to source) and its correct S gauges (including the 7200 rpm redline tach).

This example needs a full restoration, but the car is 90 percent complete -- and utterly redeemable.Given prices hovering around $200,000 for an S soft window, there's plenty of meat on the bone for the savvy investor. Or this car would be an excellent candidate for the discriminating enthusiast-owner with exacting standards who wishes to oversee his or her own restoration.

"This example needs a full restoration, but the car is 90 percent complete" That is one of my favorite buzz words from sellers of cars dredged out of some swamp.
This example needs a full restoration, but the car is 90 percent complete............translated it means that the car is only missing 300 or 400, impossible to find or ludicrously expensive parts and the car is so bad that they wouldn't think of tackling the resto themselves.

    Ciao

It certainly isn't the easiest restoration I can imagine, but it is a hell of a lot more complete than some 356 open cars that have been resurrected with chassis that have been delivered to a shop as two separate pieces after having literally rusted in half. Even with a non matching engine, it is the right type and does have the IDS. It is also a desirable color. I believe in the years to come, we will be seeing much worse considered worthy candidates. It will be very interesting to see where the bidding goes on this.

I am also surprised how many of the 67S SWT seem to have been made in Blood Orange. It was not a stock color that year. It was a special order.

GK Restoration had this chassis for sale about 1 year ago asking 18K. There was a thread. One of the guys here bought the car for a little more than ask. Found a motor and now is unloading car. Understand 60K is reserve. Good luck with sale.
