Thread: Did '69 have a VIN decal in the door?

Did '69 have a VIN decal in the door?

I've considered ordering a reproduced decal, but read somewhere in here that VIN decal's weren't applied until 1970. Is this true? Anyone with a '69 out there who still has the original decal? My build date was 3/69.
    Many thanks.

No decals for 69 model that I am aware of, have owned one that was a USA delivery and was #26 produced.

Beginning in 1968 the cars did have a compliance decal, but not one with the VIN and date. The decal is on the hinge post, well below the paint badge. The earliest decal with the VIN and date punched into it is a 1970 model year.

Interesting Dave. Does that include early production 1970 model year cars like those produced in 09/69 (such as mine)?

Yes, I have a few examples of 09/69 DOT decals. Also one with 07/69.
