Think that sold at the same auction that the McQueen car sold. Guess it doesn't need celebrity company if it goes for the current listed price. I believe the criticism at that time was the under bumper fog lights and the deco strip. Might have been other items. Actually the fog lights are correct for 1967 aftermarket items. Wide wide decos for SWB not available until 1968.

Several mentions of that car to be found by searching. The engine # associated with it is an S engine but far later that it should be. So there is no real evidence of it being an original S let alone having matching numbers. Almost no detail on it is known at all. I see no justification for the pricing. Hopefully someone will look at it critically, and report back the details.

I remember this car when it was at R/M...gorgeous body work, paint etc. Very impressive. The other details as you guys mention were lacking. IIRC the car didn't even have 4.5s...

John Buffum in 1968 Monte Carlo Rally in 500190S – Gooding has this photo on their website, I know John Buffum ran in the Monte Carlo Rally in a Porsche but I thought that was 1969???

1968 was a PRESSE entry (meaning Press, today it's also called MEDIA). As I understand it, a PRESSE entry would be able drive on the same route but not at speed. This was also useful for photographers who could situate themselves on good spots along the route of the rallye.
