    Correct H1 Lenses for a LHD '70 911

I recently acquired a very nice set of H1 for my '70 911T. One lens is marked as follows: 14427R8, Bosch, ^^^K11767, 1.305.614.010. The other lens is marked: 4560, Bosch, ^^^K11756, 1.305.614.007.008. After doing some research, it appears that the first H1 lens, ending .010, seems to have been used in 1972 and possibly in 1973. The second H1 lens, ending in .007.008, may have been used in 1968. Both lenses are ribbed and the letters and numbers are raised and on the outside of the lenses. Can any of you 'seasoned' guys tell me if the above information about H1 lenses is correct? Also, can any one tell me what H1 lenses were used in 1970? I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.

I have 007 clear early H1 and 008 yellow early H1 LHD lenses but Ive never seen a lens with both numbers. Id like to see a photo of that one. If your 911 is not French delivery then you probably want 010 clear lenses with letters raised on the outside.

Thanks for the information. No, the car is a US-version, non-Karmann, LHD '70 911T coupe, but I just bought the H1s. I assumed that the one clear lens marked .010 was OE, but the other lens, marked .007.008, is a bit of a mystery. I'll send you a pic of the other at first opportunity. When were the lenses marked .007 replaced by the ones marked .010...was it a the beginning of the 1969 model year?

I have a 1.305.614.007.008 lens on my car. It is an original, purchased summer 69 from a dealer (still around) in Germany.

You may have seen my write up on H1s here:
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...l=1#post618342

The 1.305.614.007 lens is almost identical to the *.007.008 version.

If I were you, I'd be comfortable it is appropriate for your car. But there is Bosch saying the optics were revised 5/69 to the more common lens pattern we are used to seeing. The challenge will be finding another that matches.

BTW, if you'd like to sell it, I'm a buyer...

Thanks for the informative reply. The H1 lens you purchased in Germany, marked "1 305 614 007 008," was that lens a replacement for the "1 305 614 007" and was it fitted on ROW-version, RHD 911s only in 1969? A few people on the Pelican Forum have mentioned that their US-version, RHD '67 and '68 911s had been refitted with lenses marked "007," but no one else has mentioned an "007 008," like yours or mine. If I understand you correctly, it appears that the "007" and, subsequently, the "007 008" were replaced in May of 1969 with the more common "1 305 614 010." Is that right? Also, from what you are saying, is it safe to say that if someone bought a brand new MY70 911 in the U.S. and immediately fitted it (albeit illegally) with H1s, then they would have likely used Bosch H1 lenses marked "010," not "007" or "007 008," as those lenses were discontinued by 5/69, just as the factory was about to cease production on MY1969? Please advise.

beh911, I can't tell you how helpful you have been. BTW, I will keep your query in mind if I can find another NOS or good used "010," with outside, raised numbers and letters. Know anyone who might have a stash? Again, many thanks.

I think you mean LHD. Mine is a LHD lens. I imagine 007.008 was a minor revision before the big change in 5.69. BTW, I am not the original owner, but knew him and have all manner of paperwork on the car, including the receipt for these lenses and his back and forth correspondence with Porsche of America/VoA trying to get them to order a set for him in the States. Pretty interesting read.

Yes, that is my educated guess.

You got it. Again, my educated guess. Unless they were buying existing inventory on a shelf, like in my car's case.

Thanks again for all of your valuable assistance; you've answered all of my questions. I'll have to start looking for another .010, with raised outside letters and numbers. Clearly, you won't be taking your '69 S out for a ride today in Atlanta. Stay safe and warm.

I have a 1967 911S which I bought in 1973. I am pretty sure this was a European car as the speedometer has a note on the back side of the instrument "convert to Miles". It also had european tail lights and early 911 headlights. I switched out the original headlights for a new set of H!'s as one of my lenses broke.
I am restoring the car and dug thru my old Porsche parts and was intending to replace the H1's with the earlier headlights. My remaining lens is in pretty good shape and is serial #1.305.614.007.008. It also has the marking ^^^K4560.
If you still have your lens with the above serial#, would you be interested in parting with it?
