This is how my weekend went.. the story of my old porsche almos comming home.

So this is my story, I was doing my random Craigslist Porsche search, and what do I see but my old 1969 Porsche 912 for sale. I sold this car 14 years earlier to buy a 1961 VW camper Bus I then sold that to buy my house. So heres where its get devine. I sold my Lambretta mini truck just 4 days earlier for no reason just had no usefor it any more. So back to the Porsche. The C-list add was put up 30 min before I found it so I sent off a email I also tried calling but he put the wrong number up. I emailed all weekend. Did I mention I dated my wife in this car and have been married 11 years now. The car still is a time capsal of my life back then, no one did anything to it it still has my historacal plates on it and the tires I saved up to buy on it. It also has rear damage that accured after being rear ended my a mommy van and her three kids who I just let go. So today the my freind calls me to tell me he updated the phone # so I quickly called. The broker told me that a guy was aready on his way to pick up the car. It could of ended there but no. He told me that if he didn't show up by 1:30 it was as good as mine, so I waited..I than called and pleaded my situation again and he told me thats he understood and was looking at the title and my name was listed as the old owner. From there we stared texting and eventualy I was told that he was giving the guy till three. Ok I said since there was nothing to do, he also said if the guy starts to try to get it cheaper he would not sell it to him I said great and tried to find out were he was so I could just go and give him cash. 3 pm comes and no text message I tried calling, nothing. I finally get a text, "It's sold..." I said "thanks could you please let the new owner in on my story" and he said yes. That was fine. I could of ened there. Than I get a text, "hold on you may end up with it" I said " dont mess with me" and then I called.. He told me to give him a couple minuets. My nerves are shot at this point And I said ok please let my know.. I than called him back again and said I was willing to bring him cash to hold it since the banks were closed buy this time.. I told him I hav 5k deposit. He was asking 11k for the car.. Just so you know it is not a nice car. It a franken car, I was 19 when I had it and eng blocks are from 2 different cars. He finally said he sold it.. after all that ups and down..it sold.. I am sad since I know it will be made into a 911 and I will never see it again or be able to afford it.

If you know where it went? please let me know

    Thanks for listening, -Pete

Sorry Pete. You should have got it. Sometimes you just have to bust a nut and go on your instincts, you never know when the goose will lay the egg. You never forget your first one. 3009xx is out there and I let her go, dumb. One can hope the porsche gods smile again you, and present you with another option. They have for me, keep being nice to them and ye shall see!

I eagerly read your first post hoping for a reunion and a new thread about passionate car ownership.

I hate to see what happened but think you are doing the best thing possible with this thread and your CL ad.

I hope this works out in your favor. Good luck

Well, this story does nothing to improve my opinion of the typical car broker (though I know there are exceptions that prove the rule).

Stick with it, Pete - the broker may yet put you in touch with the new owner just to keep you from bugging him further...

No luck with the broker today. Been calling my conections and my father-in-law calling his. We will see. I have leads for other 912's and also know where a 1970 911T is.. If the new owner is on here..hint, hint, nudge nudge, wink wink..
