A Quick Update on My ‘68 911L: Almost Done

After deciding to use COVID as an excuse to do some extra restoration work, we’re within weeks of being finally complete with the entire project. We’re targeting to have the car fully done and back on the road before Memorial Day, so after a slight delay I can’t wait to finally get “Chester” back in action. After all was said and done, I decided to restore this awesome piece of our family history back to a Condition 1 car so that I can drive it with my boys into a Condition 2 car over the coming years. This will NOT be a garage queen and I plan to enjoy the car and accept the inevitable patina that we will happily put on it together.

I’ll do a more thorough post on the restoration work once it’s all complete, but here are a few interim pics of work as of this afternoon, which is about 95% complete. I’ve got new Michelin XAS tires in the original 165 VR 15 fitment being delivered next week to go on these beautifully restored original 5 1/2” x 15” Fuchs that Harvey did last year, and we still have a few body and engine items to wrap up. But have seen the car this afternoon I got fired up and thought I’d post up a few “almost final” pics. The guys at The Last Detail have been absolutely awesome to work with, so hats off to Tom Snellback and his team for a great project in restoring Chester to his former glory for me and my family. More pics to come with a more detailed update after we get it complete, but here is where we stand as of today
